This post is one of the most difficult I have had to write. Violence here is escalating and has reached the point of no return.
We are afraid that they have overstepped the bounds for peaceful dialogue and we will be in an all-out war. Not just Nicas against the government, but I believe the United States will be involved very shortly.
The news I woke up to this morning is nothing short of appalling. The messages were out o FB, Youtube and 100%Noticias the force of the government censored the news getting out. I doubt that it has hit any of the main international news outlets.
In early hours of Saturday morning, an American was ambushed in his car on the highway, forcible removed, stripped of his clothes, tortured and shot in the head.
The car was torched as was a second car following the first. No one knows what happened to the people in the second car. They are missing.
First reports were that it was an employee of the American Embassy, a marine in civilian clothes. Another man in the car with him was injured but taken to hospital on the back of a motorcycle being driven by a woman.
The American Embassy released at statement via Twitter, saying that it was an American citizen and they would be aiding the family. That was all the information given other than this is a very worrying occurrence.
Local news outlets, owned by the government said the it was a local bar owner that was killed by militant students. He was apparently called, told that his friend was in trouble and needed him.
There are conflicting reports as to who is responsible and the news has been buried in the local news.

While this was happening in Managua, more violence was occurring in Masaya. Snipers were photographed in Masaya leaving injured and 1 dead in their wake.
This is an everyday occurrence in Nicaragua now. My family has been sequestered in our compound for the last month as has my son's family in Managua. The streets are not safe day or night.
Two years ago Nicaragua was a peaceful country. Then Ortega appointed his wife as vice-president. We have been on a slippery slope since.

Things are not very good here at the moment. I will be posting more. Apparently, the US is downplaying what happened. We don't know what is going to happen next. Neither family have left our houses. It is not safe to do so. If we still have communications on Friday we would be pleased to come on the show to give an update.

I was chatting with Chris. As long as we have internet we will be there on Friday. He just heard from people in Managua that a rumour is being passed along that Nicaragua is on the list for UN peacekeeping intervention. That may be the best we can hope for.
That will be good. UN Peacekeepers sounds like a positive development.
If they let them in. They didn't want the Human Rights people. This man is a guerilla and still fights like one. He will not relinquish power willingly or peacefully. I think he may want to go out in a blaze of glory. Heaven help us.
Ah right, I hadn't thought of that option of the peacekeepers not being allowed in...
This is very disturbing. I'm just knowing about this. So many things go on in different countries which the government try hard to ensure it doesn't get to the international media.

Whoa. Why have I not heard of this? How is this not made the rounds? Are we really that partitioned away?
The government of Nicaragua has been good at keeping a lid on things here. Not much has gotten out to the international news outlets. They need to pay attention to what is going on here. This is a tinder box waiting to explode.

We are a poor third world country. We are not high on any priority list. We have no oil or natural resources. We have beaches. In the grand scheme of things, we are but a blip.
Oh this is terribly shocking @cecicastor Is there no way you can leave the area until things settle down? How are you coping? Sending love and prayers for you and your loved ones my friend.
Perhaps that should be my next post, how to cope in a war zone. There is no way that we can leave right now. It is not safe to stick out noses out the door. Love and prayers are greatly appreciated. Thank you for your support.

Most people don't until they read my posts. The news is not making out to mainstream media. He's pretty effective at blocking it. We think it is his wife's doing as she is very media savvy.
THIS is the post I was hoping to Never get! I am so glad you are on full lock down! 24/7 guards, as well armed as you can manage! If you had time to make the anti personell spikes tha look like jacks, now is the time to put them out on the trails to your compound (covered with leaves)! Any camo you can do one the compound is a good idea!

The Russians may not be able to afford it these days, Hope they can't! Please stay low, and keep your lights off when possible! That helps you go unnoticed.

It is probably damp enough there for a Malitov coctail to be safely usable. I am so glad you locked down and blacked out! Do you have direct communications with your Son, or is it internet only?

We only have cell phones and internet. They cut our power we have nothing. No power, no water and no communications. We can not think of anything tangible at the moment but down the road, we may need help and we will take you up on your offer.
Any chance on the radio? Get it going and I can keep you on steemit, etc. Cell phones are too fragile, systemically. Do you have back up power? You can charge things from cars.
I assumed since you are so close to a river you had a well? Store rainwater. There is water in the hot water tank. If you get water back, even for a short time, fill the bathtub. Leave that faucet on (WITH THE DRAIN PLUGGED), so you know if the water pressure returns.
Ask, and we will do what we can!

I'm so sorry to hear this, but the fact that they're suppressing the truth about it isn't surprising at all. We can't trust the media or our governments anymore. They all lie.

This is terrible, and again so sorry that you and your family and all the innocent people of Nicaragua have to go through this and praying that this will end soon and that you and your family will be all safe.
We are safe for the moment, but we go from day today. I don't believe it will end anytime soon. We have passed the point of no return. War is here.

My sweet friend, this is breaking my heart. I'm struggling to wrap my head around what your everyday looks like...and what it's like in a warzone. Thank you for posting and letting us know what's going. I think I read earlier that broke into the news in the U.S., do you think that will help or because there are no natural resources they'll stay out of it?

We are staying as safe as we can. We talk daily by video chat. That ay I get to see and hear him and see my granddaughter too. Another son is living with me here on the homestead. I honestly don't know if it will be a help or hindrance. It all depends on who else is invited to the party. Last time when Russia got involved, the US was here just after. The only thing that will get everyone involved in a hurry is nuclear capability. I pray it doesn't come to that.
The American State department said the american "passed away", which looks like they are going to ignore the issue. The state department has become very leftist from the previous eight years.
Bianca Jagger is the only one I have seen interviewed that spoke some truth matching your reporting.
There is some mention of 'social unrest' from the mainstream media, but it is hiding the bigger movements that the tyrants are performing against the people.
It is very difficult to predict what the american military will do, as this has all the markings of a socialist destabilizing trap, meant to draw in the military for a extended conflict.
Either way, if the american military gets involved, or the socialists continue with the purge, and setting the bigger trap, it is a very bad situation for the people.
If my government were turned against me in this way, i think i would shut off their water and electricity.
The snipers are going to be a problem, and even if the current ones are eliminated, the government will likely bring in foreign ones.

Thank you, @joesal, for your take on things. I will continue to post what I see and hear. I am an anarchist from way back before it was cool. When I read the ambassador's tweet, I thought that it was a bit stilted. Not the response I was expecting. There have been all kinds of rumours flying around about who the person that got killed was. The one recurring theme is that they were set up. The question begs to be asked, why? For what purpose. The snipers are not Nicas. They are from Venezuela. Spain is also funding the government. The country is very divided. Half the military support Ortega and the other half not. So he is paying government workers with no experience to rabble rouse.
There are many things that don't add up, but do they ever in a war? It is difficult to get any news that is not first sifted by government censors.
I am sorry, but this is not social unrest. This is civil war. Brother against brother. Nica against Nica. And we are concerned that the government will shut off power, water and communications to the people.
Time will tell what will happen. In the meantime, my family and I are keeping our heads down and trying to stay out of the line of fire.
Spain does make sense in the destabilize model.
It may be important to spot Chechen-like foreign fighters imported for Ortega, (they may have arrived from Venezuela) that is a sign of a bigger agenda.
I have a hunch there could be some new equipment 'suddenly appear' in Panama that would be for Ortega also.
We have already seen equipment arrive through Honduras. Mainly trucks and anti-riot guns. Small planes fly in during the night from the north as well. People say large boxes are being offloaded. I would assume that is more arms. Latest rumours are saying that US-Nicas are petitioning the UN for a peacekeeping force and that Nicaragua is on the short list.
I wouldn't trust the UN or any 'human rights' organization, I would for sure keep my family away from those.
There is no certainty what the boxes are. If i had to guess it would be large mortars, RPGs, and recoiless rifles.
The stuff from Panama would probably be artillery, anti-aircraft equipment, maybe hilux-like trucks.
If they do start a purge, mortar fire is bad news.
We have had mortars being fired from the very beginning. They re being use like someone would fire off fireworks on the 4th of July...

We don't hear much gunfire where we are but we hear mortars close by...we live on a homestead away from the cities. In town is the worst. A friend called one night to see if we were okay and we could hear the gunfire, mortars and the screaming over the phone. Didn't sleep much that night...

Yeah government will always try to sensor these kinds of things. They do not want people to see what is going on in their own backyards.
Nicaragua is most likely not high on anybodies priority list I guess? No oil or land? Just normal people living their lives? I hope that something will happen fast, a peaceful solution though!
Not going to happen anytime soon. It is a civil war, brother against brother, Nica against Nica. It is a poor third world country, with no oil, resources, or gold. No on a high priority list of the first and second world countries.

Is your family considering trying to get out? If there is anything we can do to help, please speak up! So very sad, I wish more Americans understood how fast it happens, and how it CAN happen here.
We had plans to evacuate but then things ramped up quicker than anyone could imagine and Chris and his family are caught in Managua and we are north in Leon, about three hours away on a good day. We need to bide our time until Chris and his family can join us here then we will make for the northern border. Rest assured that we will ask for help when necessary, but for now we wait. (Unless you could send us a tank?) I don't think we would be able to get anything through normal routes. Most Americans have no idea how fast and unpredictable war is...
:) When the gun-grabbers look at me with that deer-in-the-headlights looks and say "You think you should be allowed to own MACHINE GUNS??!!!" I tell them "Yes, I think I should be allowed to own tanks and Apache helicopters and if you understood the second amendment, you would too."

I am afraid that the time for talking has passed. Things have gotten a way out of hand. There is talk that Wednesday our power, water and communications will be cut. We will be effectively cut off from the outside world. That part is totally terrifying. What atrocities will happen and no-one will know about it?
