Wow! That was lucky. Two deer in one evening and at the end of season too. Deer are scarce here so we didn't get any this year. Maybe next year. A friend has applied for a licence to raise deer for meat here so perhaps next year will be better. We freeze a fair amount of meat and can the rest. But getting glass jars here is a bit of a problem. I am a throwback homesteader that believes in preserving meats, veggies and fruits for the seasons when it is not plentiful but in a tropical country people eat what is available in the markets. I prefer our own food. I know where and how it was grown ad I get a better variety than the market provides.

Yeah, I prefer food I've grown and harvested myself too. You never know what you are getting from our local grocers.
