Great post on the progress of your garden. I know it's frustrating for you not to be in the middle of it all, but your girlfriend really has put forth a lot of effort, and it's definitely going to be worth it. You know when you're healed, though, that you're going to have to do all of the household chores for oh, two or three months. Maybe more. :)
My wife just found out she has what they're calling a "non-emergent" hernia, though that's not exactly official yet. She works at the local hospital as a housekeeper, so she runs into doctors who she asks about different things, but none of them are her doctor.
She does have an appointment on Wednesday so we'll see then what they say and what will need to happen. She's been told she'd be off work for six weeks with surgery, but they haven't really said what she would be limited to.
I can't see her lying on her back most of the day for six weeks. That would drive her insane. She would be the kind that would get another hernia or not healing the first one because she wouldn't be able to stand it. I'm not sure how we'll get through that if it comes to it.
Oh, well. That's the way things go, right?
