On Sunday morning I was up at 5AM because I couldn’t sleep any more. I got my post up and pulled the shades up at 6:45AM. I could see the grass seedlings were well up so I took their cover off and turned them. They don’t have a grow light and were already leaning to the window.
We’d gotten somewhere between 6” – 8” of snow in the night and it hadn’t yet begun to rain. I moved some of the stuff back into the kitchen and dismantled the barricade. Larry didn’t seem at all put out to be in the office for nearly 24 hours.
Then I went out with my broom and spent half an hour sweeping the snow off the walkway and steps while I still could. The rain started while I was out there so I was glad I had gotten out early before it started at 7:30AM.
The bird’s nest is still in the little maple and had a little snow hat, so I got a quick shot before the rain melted it.
Once back inside, I sat down, after getting the stoves going, and watched Gilmore Girls until my brother got up around 9AM to plow. He helped me move the water filter and the washer before going out. I went back to the couch and was soon asleep.
I slept for about 3 hours until 1PM. I got up and ate and went back to the couch.
It was driving rain all day. And through the rain I saw something big and white land on the telephone pole at the end of the driveway, about 300’ away. It stayed there for a long time and I was able to get the camera and take 9 photos, all of which were a lot worse than these.
It was a hawk, probably a juvenile red tail. In the top 2 photos maybe you can make out the driving rain.
So outside of stoking stoves and watching the series and eating and napping, I didn’t do much else.
On Monday it’s a holiday so no exercise class. I have to clean up the kitchen and do laundry. I’d thought maybe I’d run the vacuum around to try to keep the floor clean a little while longer, but we will see. It’s to be cold again, not above mid 20’sF during the day and no sun and lots of wind. I’ll probably have to clean off the steps and walkway again, from the sleet over night.

With all that snow and rain you are better off staying home. We had rain yesterday and it all turned the roads to ice and now that we got 9" of snow on top there are accidents all over the county. I'm staying safe and warm. lol
Me too! I’ve not even gone out to clear the steps. That wind will take it right out of me!
It’s good to have an easy day with time for napping. The weather flipped again and is getting colder here too. We are lucky we don’t have any snow. I wouldn’t like sweeping the snow on the front yard.
Black ice and snow gave me a tumble long time ago. So, it’s better to stay inside and do some light cleaning.
Our weather right now is very hot, how I wish it could snow just for one day here.
