Transcribing garden bed notes crop Feb 2025.jpg

On Monday morning, I was up at 5:30AM and got the post up. Then I finished loading the dishwasher and sat down until 8:30AM. I’d decided to tackle the garden bed notes. I worked on them all morning between stove stokings and making cups of tea to fortify myself.

Barn with snow cap crop Feb 2025.jpg

It was pretty cold and very windy. It snowed lightly off and on all day but there were some spots of sun. The barn looked cool with its snow cap. Usually it falls right off the sheet metal roof.

As the wind would come around the house and head for the barn, it would pick up snow in the middle pasture in a tornado. It was so fast that by the time I stood up, grabbed the camera and got to the window; it would be by the barn or past it.

These were the best I could capture, but it was pretty impressive seeing snow tornadoes all morning.

Birds after the storm crop Feb 2025.jpg

The birds were out in full force. The first snow baffle by the porch had a nice lacy edge all around it. I didn’t try to capture it because of the wind. Those birdies had a wild ride all morning.

I stopped at 12:30PM and had some lunch and watched the Gilmore Girls. I’ve made it through season 2 so far. I thought I might go back to the notes but I didn’t.

It continued to snow off and on, even with the sun out, above. I actually caught some of the flakes in the darker areas.

I had gotten the laundry started and actually got it all dried, but none folded or put away. I also finished cleaning the kitchen. The contractor stopped by to look at 3 small jobs I had around 3:30PM.

Mourning doves on swing crop Feb 2025.jpg

I went out for the first time at 4:30PM to fill the feeders. I had to sand a lot due to all the ice. When I got back inside, and started pulling shades I saw 4 mourning doves on the swing frame. By the time I got the camera, one had flown down to clean up the mess I’d made filling the feeders. Soon the other 3 joined him.

I hadn’t been feeling too good after doing the floor on Saturday but I did manage to be productive.

On Tuesday my helper friend comes at 9:30AM. I have to clean the kitchen, again, and get the laundry finished. The plan is to spring clean the dining room which won’t take long, and then move onto the laundry room. He also has some errands to run. It’s to be another deep cold day after another very cold night.

It sounds like a productive yet cozy day, despite the cold and wind!
I trust you are feeling better?

I hope you're handling the cold just fine. You made the most of the day despite the inconveniences and that's good. The snow pictures are cool especially the one of the snow tornado. Have a great day.

Can you describe how cold it may be? I’m not really good with the degree calculations and all

This morning at 5:30AM it was 9F, which is -13C.

Is the snow usually more cold than ice?
We don’t have snow here and I haven’t experienced it before but how cold is it?

I’d say the ice is much colder.

How long it does continue snowing there? Shouldn't be more than an other month

It can snow through April…

You really need to protect yourself as much as possible, the cold is much.

Wow! The grey sky with snow ‘storm ‘ or tornado! Quite dramatic this winter weather!

Poor birds would find it very difficult to find food! I hope the winter snow would say goodbye soon so spring can slowly begin!

Me too! But I think we've got another month of this...

I so much love the snow and how it is really looking. We hardly have snow where I live
