Christmas Cards, Printer and the Floor is Done - December 8, 2024 @goldenoakfarm

More snow crop Dec 2024.jpg

Sunday morning there was 3” of new snow out there. I was up at 4AM and got the post up. Then I started printing the newsletter and that went well, no mistakes.

I got the Christmas cards written and ready to send. Then I went outside.

Steps and walk swept crop Dec 2024.jpg

The snow was still light enough to be able to sweep and still dry so I didn’t have to sand the steps. Once that was done, I sat down for a while then decided to print out the pages of the manual to the printer that might be useful. (It’s 469 pages long!)

Printer error Dec 2024.jpg

The printer had remained on after doing the newsletter but this is what it said. I turned it off and on again, nope. I checked devices, it was there as was the old printer, so I tried to delete the old printer. I finally got it after 2 tries. Still nope. So I messaged Tom…sigh

This issue cropped up a LOT in the reviews and not just Canon, but Epsom and HP. So no printing…

I went out and cleaned up the kitchen, then got a shower and sat down to watch Christmas movies until the contractor arrived mid afternoon.

But Tom arrived first and it seems there was an unprinted job in the old printer’s cache. He removed it, re-removed the old printer, and it started printing. Just as he was going, the contractor arrived.

Final floor repair crop Dec 2024.jpg

The contractor brought his tools in but said he’d left the board at his house and would have to go back for it. That was okay, I’d just watch the rest of my movie.

So he got the old board out by cutting it down the middle, then cutting away the tongue that held it in place. The new board was cut to size and slid right in.

We decided on screw placement and he started drilling holes and putting the screws in. My job was to find a close match with the plugs and hammer them in with a glue base.

Then he followed me with his detail saw and chisels and cut the plugs as flush as he could. I followed him and sanded them flat. He followed me with the sealer.

The sealer on the original set of screws and plugs had discolored, so I started sanding them down and he followed with the new sealer. I set chairs over the areas to keep from walking on them until the sealer hardened.

It was pretty late by the time we were done. I made supper and finished my movie while it cooked. I was finally in bed by 9:30PM.

On Monday I have exercise class in the morning. I am still stripping loads of laundry, and I have PT in the afternoon. It’s to be a cloudy day and to start raining in the afternoon. That probably will melt all the snow.

Sort:

The floor looks great! So nice to get help from people who know what they are doing. I probably will send out a Christmas letter, probably in January, when life is boring.

Wow! That’s a lot of work to fix the floor board. I wouldn’t know what to do with that, no practical skills! The weather must be quite cold. Here it’s getting cooler and nice for working in the garden.

I can see the printer is working perfectly well.
The written Christmas cards, are they for commercial purpose or sharing for the people?

To send to people. I like getting cards (old fashioned person here) and hanging them up, so I send them out...

Not although. Is not old fashioned,I do cherish the idea ma'am.

Yay, another project is finally finished. I bet your happy to have that one marked off your list.

Yup, just a little bit of shopping left...

Your yard is covered in snow, it is difficult to do wooden work in very cold. you've been busy with the contractor. Very good.

I suggest you to throw some salt on the snow/ice to make it liquid and not freeze so no risk to slip on the path

Salt kills gardens...

oh yes thats true
