The farm at midday
On Wednesday, I didn’t have anyone coming or anywhere to go. I was up at 4:30AM and got the post written. I continued the stripping of the laundry in the old washer.
Around 7AM while cleaning the kitchen, I decided to go to the co-op to get my sister’s advent stuff and some of the things for Thanksgiving. I knew it would far exceed my 20 minute limit but I don’t have helpers who can drive me.
I was gone just about an hour and got many of the things I needed, including all the Advent things, above.
I’d stopped to pick up the mail on my way back home and found a second seed catalog. The Pinetree one had come last week. I’ll have to start planning the gardens in the next couple weeks.
I had gotten everything put away and changed over the laundry and sat down, when I saw odd shadows coming in the windows. The gutter guys had finally arrived. So that’s one less project on the autumn chores list.
I sat down again for a little while to wait for my son and fell asleep.
He woke me up about 1PM and we went out at 1:30PM and got all the tarps folded and put away. Then we covered the woodpile against the rain that’s coming on Thursday.
I wandered around the house and saw all the flower gardens needing cleaned out.
This is just a few of them. There’s 21 plus the 2 little tree orchards. I don’t know how much will be done on them this late in the year. The New Herb needs to be done first.
I sat down again for a little while and the contractor arrived.
He had the new parts for the old washer and we pulled it out and he installed them. They did not fix the problem. He suspects it’s the transmission. So we checked on those and they are about $200. So he’s going to do more research before we order it.
So while we waited for the machine to cycle, he got started on the dining room floor. Once we’d changed out the machines, I started running washing loads as I am very low on clothes.
The crack wasn’t very bad and we decided to screw the boards down in place before it got worse. So between working on the washer each time, we got the gap mostly closed and all the screws in.
I asked him to replace the board with the repair in it. It will take more time but if we are screwing the boards down, it seems final and this is the time to do it. So that will be done before finishing the floor.
So he’s going to make plugs for over the screws and when he comes next time, we will take out the repaired board and replace it, put the screws back in and put plugs on them. Then once they are sanded level, it’s my job to seal them over a few days.
Hopefully that will be the end of the floor problems.
Once he left around 6PM, I had to get fires started and supper made. All too soon it was 8PM and I turned off the candles and pulled shades and was in bed by 8:30PM.
On Thursday I finish the laundry, and go upstairs and start pulling out Christmas boxes for my helper friend to bring down when he gets here at noon. I have to move the china cabinet in the morning so there’s room for the tree. He will have to bring down the Christmas tree also.
Another long Thursday.
Wow! Quite a long list of things to be done in one short day. I hope that he could find out what’s wrong with the washer.
So, it’s getting colder. Here the cold wind started to arrive from China yesterday. We all could feel the difference and the sun set much quicker than the same time last year!
It’s time to bring out the Christmas tree! Time flies too fast.

Please, what’s the name brand of your washing machine?
Kenmore
You can get a decent washing machine for 300$, why he keeps trying at fix it which costs more
Because here one can not get a mechanical machine, only electronic ones.
Your washer looks like a freezer
I love the look though😁
