On Wednesday morning I had to go outside at sunrise and the moon was setting in the west. Often the best color is in the west.
After the mild spring-like day we had on Tuesday, we had a heavy frost during the night. This is the catnip in Row 5 of the New Herb garden.
I went to exercise class early to go to the “coffee hour” held just before it the last Wednesday of each month. I brought a basket with a thermos of my English Breakfast tea, a pretty dish with dried cranberries and a silver spoon for serving, and my pretty Christmas mug. It was nice to sit around a table and chat.
I found a new Christmas book when I was there and sat down when I got home and read it during the afternoon. Of course, there was help, very contented help.
The juncos have been back for quite a while but it’s hard for me to photograph them. There was a flock of 20+ between the house and the New Herb garden as I waited for my ride to class to pick me up. When I opened the door to get a photo, they all flew away. Except one. That one was extremely intent on whatever was in the grass in front of it. I got several shots as I tried to catch his head up. He never budged. Not even when I finally succeeded and went back inside.
My brother and I finally made the parsnip chowder, one of the best we’ve done.
On Thursday I hope to spend the morning on estate stuff and my helper comes at noon for the afternoon. Once errands are done, we’ll tackle some more of the pantry, probably the white cabinet.
Catnip! I should grow some catnip for my cats. But the weather is too dry and the soil is harden. I have to wait for a month or two.
Larry is very affectionate, my cats wouldn’t be sitting on my lap. They are still wild in their own ways.
Hope the frost wouldn’t be too heavy next time.
It'll be snow next time...
I have read a few books by Debbie Macomber. They are relaxing, easy reading, a nice way to just kick back after a busy day.
I mostly just read her Christmas books.

A beautiful day began with the sun, so the cat lay down peacefully. It could be considered a leisurely day.
