On Wednesday morning, after an almost decent night, I got started by putting in the first grills on the windows.
I’ve always thought blank windows looked unfinished. So I went to the trouble (and now the contractor has the trouble) of finishing removable grills for most of the windows.
My general helper was here and she got all the seedlings watered. Then we sat down and finished the notes on how we set-up the shelving for the seedlings. I just remembered we didn’t do the porch set-up! Oh, well, Friday…
Then she set about washing the old covers to the trays. I had broken down and gotten new ones that actually fit the trays and weren’t broken. Then she started on the trays. We need 7 in 10 days for the next seed starting.
I got some of my puttering jobs done and phone calls made while she worked. She left at lunch time.
I went out at 1PM when it had warmed up and started on the violet beds along the driveway. I got the 1st Fence one finished and planted some new violets in it.
While I am on that side of the bed, I clean out the garden on that section as far as I can reach. So the 1st Fence garden is half cleaned out. I got about 4’ down on the 2nd Fence violet bed and garden and had to quit about 3PM.
The flowering almond in the South Herb garden, this is the westerly one, has buds now.
In the New North garden, the scillas and colt’s foot really draw the eye.
The blue is amazing, especially in the sunlight.
In the South garden the tulips have opened and the grape hyacinths are a nice counterpoint.
In the New South garden most of the tulips are open.
Tom rebuilt the carburetor on the truck and it seems to have fixed most of the problems. He didn’t come for the day due to that, just brought the truck over in the afternoon.
Thursday my cleaning helper and I will be cleaning out more haylofts. We have 2 or maybe 3 loads of mulch hay to bring in. That ought to do me in for the day.
You make me tired with all the work that you manage to squeeze into each day. You are one determined woman!
Yet I seldom work more than 4 hours at any one time. I simply can't. I just make the most of the time/energy I have and then I stop dead...
