The birdwatcher
On Saturday morning I was up at 4:30AM and got my post up. Then I cleaned up the kitchen and started moving furniture.
Most of it went into the laundry room. The island stayed in the entry.
I got a good part of the house vacuumed so I wouldn’t pick up dirt as I moved around.
I was finally ready to start scrubbing, but I had one more job to do.
I moved Larry’s cat box and food dishes into the office. He was asleep in his chair and didn’t even realize he had been barricaded in until 12:15PM.
I had made some lunch and put it in the extra fridge and got my water and as much as I could think of ready to go into the office when I had finished the first coat of wax.
Then I got down on the floor and started scrubbing. There’s an awful lot of food that gets dropped and not cleaned up. And that had to come up before I could wax.
It took about 8 pans of water which meant I had to get up and down 8 times to finish the scrubbing. Then I had to rinse carefully and that took about 10 pans as I needed to have relatively clean water to rinse the floor.
I finished about 10:00AM and went in and watched Gilmore Girls while I waited for the floor to dry. At 10:45AM it was dry and I started putting on the first coat of wax.
It took me about 20 minutes and I didn’t have to get up until the floor was done. I collected my stuff, moved the barricade, got into the office and rebuilt the barricade from that side. The cat never woke until 12:15PM as I said.
He checked out the barricade, saw I was in there with him, and went back to sleep. I had 8 hours to wait until I could apply the 2nd coat, around 7PM.
I got that done at 7PM and waited until 10:15PM before I carefully walked on it to get ready for bed. The cat would be barricaded for the night.
On Sunday I move all the stuff back and take it easy, except for cleaning up the slushy mess that the storm (which started at 4:30PM on Saturday afternoon) will leave us. It’s to snow for 12 hours then rain all day and into the night on Sunday. On Monday it will be in the mid 20’s all day, so everything will be glare ice.
Boy am I glad the kitchen is done!
What is Larry’s cat box for?
He stays in it or what?
Yes he is an indoor cat.
Wow, what a difference on the floor. It looks amazing and I know that must have been hard. I have a hard time getting up from the floor and that many times would have done me in for days. Good for you for doing it yourself. ♥
It’s certainly done me in for today! I just woke up from a 3 hour nap and it’s only 1PM….
I have been doing my spare pantry room and that was enough for one week. Lol
Way to go!
That’s impressive work! You could finish working on the floor according to plan! 👍👍
Good thing that Larry went back to sleep and didn’t know what’s been happening in the kitchen.
The supervisor did take a long break.
Did you use any chemical in cleaning the floor? The floor is really sparkling. 💯💕
No just soap and water to clean. I used floor wax stuff for the shine.

You are really doing a very great job I must confess
The furnitures you moved to the laundry room, don’t you make use of them again?
Yes, it will all return to the kitchen.
