So on Friday’s post I said I’d be doing the trash shed on Saturday and loading the truck Friday evening with mulch. Well… once the truck was loaded, it wouldn’t be unloaded until mid afternoon, so no place to put trash. My son and I will have to do it Wednesday afternoon. Sigh… Gotta love brainfog…
So I decided to process one of the bags of the garlic that was smelling up my pantry. Once my post was up and I’d cleaned up the kitchen I set up to do garlic. My brother was going to take me on errands around 9AM. Once we were back from that, I went back to the garlic.
The garlic had to be peeled, washed, sliced very thin and laid out not touching.
It was sad doing this because the bulbs and cloves were huge but had no skins on them.
It took me about 5 hours to do that bag and I finished at 1:30PM. I sat down to rest for a while and around 3PM I started setting up to make basil pesto.
My brother came home shortly after I finished and we went out and harvested 2 big bowls of basil. It was in much better shape, not so buggy and lots of new growth from our previous harvest.
We got 5¾ pints. This time we added ¼ cup of pine nuts and an additional partial ¼ teaspoon of ground rosemary. He liked the flavor much better this time.
We finished just in time to go pick up the supper we’d ordered and I wiped up most of the greasy mess we’d made. I left the real cleaning for Sunday morning.
Before he went to work my son got another walkway mulched mid afternoon.
Slowly it’s getting done.
I was opening the house up just before supper and looked out the front door. It seems our rabbit proof fencing around the New Herb garden is really not working.
So once I had the proof, I went out and chased it out. It was just jumping the fence. Sigh…
Once outside, it sat and watched me until I went away. Probably was back inside 5 minutes later.
I was in bed at 8PM as I was exhausted.
On Sunday I have the disaster of a kitchen to clean up, green beans to harvest, and the yard to mow. All that ought to do me in.
That dehydrator looks very interesting. I ought to preserve my fruits this way.
The rabbit is very smart! He knows he could scale the fence. Hope you could prevent more rabbits from coming into the fenced garden.
I need to get more fencing and put it up higher but $$ and time...
Yup! There are always some limiting factors! Energies, both in physical and intangible forms are very important.
Quite a busy day with garlic and basil. Hope the rabbit stays out of your garden dear

The rabbit is so big
It’s like a stray rabbit that has no owner
Naw, it's just a small cottontail, a wild rabbit. Eats well around here unfortunately...
Spending five hours or more on that is not easy
You’ve done a lot of work
Kudos!
