On Wednesday I had the laundry finished, the kitchen cleaned, and a tray washed to start grass seed in by the time I left for exercise class. When I got back, I didn’t get much else done, but at least I didn’t sleep all afternoon.
Wednesday night it snowed for a while, then started raining. It rained off and on all day Thursday and left us with this slushy mess. I got the steps cleaned off and sanded as it was to freeze in the night.
On Thursday I finally finished the bills/budget, got a shower, and cleaned up the kitchen before my helper friend arrived at 11:30AM. We had lunch and got started on the cabinets under the counter. Then we did the drawers between the stove and fridge. They all gleam again!
Then my helper friend went and did errands and I sat down while he was gone. When he got back, he cleaned out the island and wiped it down. I was emptying the dishwasher and reloading it.
My cat Larry does really well with clumps of crabgrass. He chews on them and doesn’t have hairball problems. But now everything is frozen and covered with snow and his last crabgrass has died.
So I went online to see if you can buy crabgrass and you can. My eye caught a listing for “pasture mix” and that reminded me I have a big bucket of grass seed, “pasture mix” in the garden shed for a project that never got done. It’s a couple years old and I don’t know if it will sprout, so I scooped up a lot of it.
My helper friend brought up a bag of seed starting mix and we spread a thick layer of seed over it and covered it with more mix. Then we watered it really well and put a cover on it.
The roundtop window was the only place we could think of where Larry couldn’t get into it. So now we wait a week or 10 days and see if anything sprouts. In the meantime, I clean up hairball messes…sigh….
I got the birds fed. They have been going through the bird seed! I have to fill all those feeders every day now. So my helper friend is going to pick me up 2 more bags of seed on Friday before he comes. These are the 40 or 50 lb bags too! I’ve gone through 2 of them since the end of January!
On Friday we plan to do all the walls, clean the pictures and small furniture, and clean the ceiling. We also have to clean the Berkey water filter. If we get all this done, all that’s left is scrubbing and waxing the kitchen floor. I might be able to get that done over the weekend and the kitchen will be done.
I so much love the way you always present your daily activities. Hope you used to have time also for yourself as it is very important
Wow! You seemed to be cleaning the whole house, bits by bits! I wanted to do this project since last year, but things got in my way. My mind couldn’t focus on one thing for very long. But I am determined to do something different this year!
You feed an army of birds! So much seeds you had gone through in one month!
That's the idea, get as much of the house really clean before the season starts in April. After that, not much will et done again until November.
I have started to clean one corner at a time depending on my mood and time. I ought to pack up all my belongings and clear the space for proper cleaning soon.
I didn’t know cats can eat crabgrass
I though they only eat real food
Like most mammals they need fiber in their diet. If he was out hunting, he'd get it from the stomach of his herbivore prey.
Wow, your drawers must be sparkling by now. I can see how hygienic you are, I really love that.
How do you feed the birds and I’m wondering how they don’t fly away
With the bird feeders. Any they hang around because with snow covering everything, they can't find food.
