On Sunday it rained all day. I couldn’t put a post up because I left my camera in my friend’s car and my brother couldn’t take me to get it until noon. So I got started paying bills when I got up at 5:30AM and for a change, it went quickly and I had finished by noon. I was, of course, supervised.
Once I had the camera, I edited all the photos and finally, with many interruptions got the post up around supper time. Tom had come with the milk order and we sat and got caught up for an hour or so.
My brother and I made the roasted vegs, some gravy for the chicken from Saturday, and had a nice supper.
On Monday it was still raining. I got the kitchen cleaned up, laundry started, kept the fire going, but even so, I wasn’t very motivated. I did get the important 5 storm windows washed. I was waiting for the mower guy to come. I called him at 1PM and he’d been and gone and I’d missed him.
I set up to do the next set of windows but…
So I made the other ham steak but didn’t have large fruit. There were some red grapes left, so I used them with the same seasonings. It was pretty good, so I guess any fruit will work.
This utility sink had never drained properly since it was installed in 2021. It was always full of dirt as a result. I’d asked the contractor if he could fix it and make it drain properly.
So when he showed up on Monday afternoon, we set to it. First we tried raising the front legs more. That didn’t work. Then we tried putting a 2” x 4” across the basin underneath and putting a shim to raise the center of the basin. (It’s made of plastic.)
Eventually with much trial and error, we got it to drain all but ½” around the drain. I think we won.
Tom had installed one of the foil concertina vent pipes for the dryer. He had the intention to replace it later with a smooth easy to clean type. We’d had to drag the dryer out to work on the sink, so the contractor decided to check it out.
Turns out, because we are careful with the lint trap in the dryer, the vent was clean, even though it’s too long. He couldn’t easily remove it from either end (Tom had done too good of a job installing it) so we decided to leave it as it is.
So we cleaned up around the area and put everything back together.
The next project was to get the old washer running. He took the kit I’d bought for the agitator and went down to put it in. It turns out the reason I never found the kit my husband had bought was apparently the last thing he did was install it. He just had been unable to put the washer back together.
So the contractor started reassembling it. He couldn’t get it all together as he’d need a special clamp, which he had, but not at my house. So it’s almost ready to find out if it will run. I told him Monday is laundry day… He said, “Oh, no pressure then…” with a smile.
On Tuesday it’s the first day the window washers come. I have to finish laundry, clean the kitchen, empty out the bathroom window and wash all the knickknacks, get set up to do other awning windows and the roundtop window before they arrive at 9AM.
My helper friend will be here at 9:30AM and I have several errands for him to run before he starts out in the New Herb garden deadheading and cutting down dead stuff.
So a wicked busy day!
It's good you achieved some productivity despite the rain. At least the gardens were being watered by the rains and you got stuff done within the house. That's the spirit. I hope the weather doesn't interfere that much in your future activities. Thanks for the update and have a great day.
Yay, you are making great progress with all the laundry fixing. Rainy days are perfect for getting to those long overdue projects. ♥
Fixing laundry is a big job but I’m glad you got things sorted
Welldone!
This is my first time seeing this kind of washing machine
It looks good though
It's great you were able to handle the utility sink to get it working well again.
Larry and all the good spots 😁
You’ve done well with all the tasks you are supposed to do
Wish you well
It rained all day meant being indoors all through, your supervisor must have slept off supervising you, while enjoying the coolness of the weather.
The kitchen has been cleaned which is shiny, the cat is sleeping peacefully. Hope your washing machine can be repaired

A great day with things done to your satisfaction.
Wow! Amazingly busy day! It seemed to fluctuate between being intensely busy and being slow; my days seemed to be swinging like this as if it needed a good rest after a busy day.
But you could go on with household chores, gardening and mending things almost continuously. That’s probably why I still try to catch up with my daily tasks.
The weather plays an important part in giving the push to my daily activities. Rainy day is just good for sleeping! 😂
The utility sink looks so good and clean
It’s nice to read your post again
You are really doing a great job
