Snowy Day Again - January 11, 2025 @goldenoakfarm

Snowing again collage crop Jan 2025.jpg

On Saturday morning I was up at 5:30AM and by 6AM it had started to snow as predicted. It was fine snow most of the time and by 7:30AM when I pulled the shades up, this much had accumulated. It snowed all morning, stopping around noon. We got about 2”.

Making Christmas card collage crop Jan 2025.jpg

I watched a movie and decided to work on the vintage Christmas card collage. I had a large frame with broken glass I would use. I’d already decided to use UV glass to protect the old cards, so I’d need new glass anyways.

These are the cards mentioned in an earlier post that were sent by my great grandfather to family and business associates. This is the final configuration.

Making mini mat crop Jan 2025.jpg

I didn’t want the cards to touch the glass as it might damage them over time. On an old print I’d restored a couple years ago, to prevent it from doing that, I’d made a tiny thick mat that fit right into the groove that holds the glass. This lifted the print far enough back it didn’t touch the glass.

So I made lots of tiny pieces and taped them together to make a thick mini mat. I hope it works. I couldn’t tell because of the broken glass.

Wreathes over wood stove crop Jan 2025.jpg

I didn’t do anything with the wreathes hanging over the wood stove, nor did I clean up the kitchen or work on the recycling. I had an easy quiet day while it snowed.

I went out at 4:30PM to clear the walks and steps before they frozen and it had started to snow again. Much of the snow had melted over the day, except on the north side of the house.

New amaryllis leaves crop Jan 2025.jpg

The amaryllis my friend had given me at Thanksgiving as a waxed bulb apparently is growing roots because it has all the sudden started growing leaves.

Larry in roundtop collage crop Jan 2025.jpg

Larry had to supervise the photography and check out the snow coming down.

I went to bed around 8:30PM after spending the rest of the day watching movies.

On Sunday it’s to be a sunny day and I hope to get some of my jobs done. It’s Larry’s 10th birthday on Tuesday and I’m hoping to get my brother to take me to the pet store for special dinners and maybe a toy for him.

The old cards are very nice, good old times

It must have really been so sunny actually I must confess. This is good

Larry would have a wonderful birthday with special treats! You’re so lucky with light snow ! Others had snow storms and blizzard.

Hope you had a good rest over the weekend.
I had taken things a bit more slowly.

I guess your heater is on to help heat up the whole house. Also, I can see how comfortable the amaryllis plant is over there.

Watching movies is a great way to spend time, but it also wastes a lot of time. I like the photos of your cat.

Happy Birthday to Larry, the Supervisor. I hope you gave him enough treats, he deserves it for looking so cute.

How do you do your farm work despite the snow?

There is none in the winter.

I’m sorry to say. I feel you should wake up a bit late on Sundays since it is a resting day and you won’t have to get stressed
