One day while looking at the ridiculous prices companies charge for kombucha I got the bright idea to make my own. After doing a little research I decided to give it a try. I found it so easy it quickly became a family project! The steps are pretty easy and are as follows:
Find a scoby (mother). You can either buy one on amazon or from several googlable companies or if you know someone who has a batch growing ask them to gift you one. The picture of my daughter above is our scoby.....which she promptly named "Bucha"!
Now you need to feed your Bucha and give her time to grow. She grows on two simple ingredients-black tea and sugar.
Now pour the tea into a vessel of your liking. Wait a few weeks for the mother to eat all the sugar in the tea and your ready to serve.
If you're at all interested I highly recommend giving it a try. It's way cheaper than store bought and super easy. If you need more help feel free to ask as this post was not meant to be a detailed step by step guide more of a fun overview.
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed it!
So how does it taste?
