Yardfishing Contest Winners Announcement!

The Results Are In!!!

Welcome to the final post for our first annual #yardfishing contest! You heard that correctly, ladies and gentlemen. I have every intention of making this contest a yearly thing. With a little luck, we'll be able to grow the participation, and the prizes, by at least a little bit each year.

That's not what you came here to hear, though, is it? Of course not, you came here for the winner's announcements! I know enough to give the people what they want, so without further ado, here are the winners!

Most Informative

https://peakd.com/hive-114308/@monica-ene/monica-goes-yardfishing-homesteading-contest

@monica-ene shares a lot of detail in this post, which covers weeding in both large commercial fields, and small home gardens. She talks about where she is from, where she got her love of farming, and covers nearly all aspects of tending the soil in the area where she lives.

This post is well worth the read, and well worth the reward! I couldn't decide which of the post photos best depicted 'Most Informative', so I chose the above photo of her, because I think she looks like a very wise woman!

Most Impressive

https://peakd.com/hive-114308/@jimah1k/yard-fishing-at-home

@jimah1k entered this post, and you can see by the picture above, it earned the crown as Most Impressive! That monstrous pile of hand gathered weeds is only one of the many photographic treats in this post.

He says in the post he was partially motivated by the contest to get this work done... I hope that many of us read this post and become motivated to get our own work done!

Most Inventive

Reading this post by @apunawu, you'll have no doubts why he won the award for Most Inventive. Not only did he cleverly enlist the cows shown above to help with his weeding, but he is personally using a customized machete!

He also pulled some yams while pulling weeds, and will be using those to re-plant. From start to finish, this post is a shining example of efficient work!

Most Entertaining

https://peakd.com/hive-114308/@chichieze/yard-fishing-the-strong-weeds

This photo of @chichieze shows why she won the prize for Most Entertaining... I don't think I've ever seen someone look like they were having so much fun while clearing weeds!

There are many more photos like it in this joyous post about helping out in a friend's yard. Let's give her a warm welcome to the Homesteading Community!

AND NOW, THE MOMENT YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR!!!

The Grand Prize Winner

https://peakd.com/hive-114308/@elisaday7/yardfishing--flowers-and-weeds

@elisaday7 really knocked it out of the park with this post! It is beautifully formatted, well written, and full of breathtaking pictures. This absolute artwork of a blog entry could have won any of the other categories, which is why it is the Grand Prize Winner!

It is elegant in its simplicity, and full of intelligence and insight. I highly recommend giving it a read!

Let's all give her a round of applause, maybe even a follow and a vote!

If you've been keeping tabs, then you know that leaves us with @lion-bull, whose entry https://peakd.com/hive-114308/@lion-bull/an-effective-way-to-get gave us a deep look at the use of herbicides in removing weeds. He gets the consolation merely because this entry squeaked in at the very last minute, and I had already started choosing winners when it popped up in the community. His post also deserves a read, and an award, if for no other reason than the laugh I got from this photo of his friend pretending to ingest poison...

Rewards will go to the winners in 3 days, when my HBD finishes withdrawing from savings. Congratulations to all of you, and I look forward to seeing you all (and hopefully several more!) again at the end of the year, when I announce the next annual #yardfishing contest!
