Homesteaders - Living Naturally, Newsletter. 4th December 2019

Wow, it's been a busy week for content! So many great articles to choose from. I'm so sorry I can't feature them all, but I think you'd get a bit overwhelmed if I tried to! I hope you enjoy what we have here today.

Things happening in the community.

If you have been following @eco-alex and @ecotrain, you'll likely have read about the eco-village project. Recently this has moved from the concept stage to reality. The land has been acquired and now they are starting to work through some questions people might have about the village. This article is packed with information and if you've missed out on anything, links at the end will take you to what you may have missed.

And don't forget to give the Question of the Week a go. This week they are asking, what are your priorities in life and why.

At @naturalmedicine they are asking you to show us your medicine cabinet for a chance to win 400 LOTUS. Then don't forget there is still time to enter the main challenge which has been extended to 21st December.

Welcoming Newcomers

It's been a while since we've had the chance to welcome a new user. So I'm pleased to introduce @subtlescopes, a photographer who has migrated from the controls of Instagram and supporting the wealthy in order to try this decentralised platform.

Some highlights of the week

I've featured a bee keeper in Australia before who uses a top bar hive. Over in South Africa, @craigcryptoking prefers to use a Langstroth hive and here he shows us the the first minor bee operation of the season, checking how one of the newer hives is going.

Black soldier fly larvae cultivation for composting and highly nutritious animal feed is becoming quite popular of late. If you're wanting to learn more about it and starting up, @quochuy fills us in with this great piece on collecting eggs from the wild population.

@freemotherearth shares her love of elderberry and recipes for those winter ailments.

After much work, @freedompoint has finished his hand crafted blade. He has been documenting the process throughout and the links to those posts can be found at the end of this article.
