It's been a busy month down on the plot, I have been down there daily I have been reaping the rewards of my hard work. My courgettes are growing so rapidly that I'm harvesting them every couple of days. There is only so many you can eat so I have been sharing them. I have even been giving them to The Walnut one of my favourite restaurants. I have also been harvesting turnips as well as lifting the roots, I also harvest the young leaves. They can be cooked and eaten like spinach. Did you know, before the introduction of the potato into Europe, turnip made the bulk of the common diet. I have lifted the last of my garlic and onions and I'm drying them out and will use them over the next few months. The Fennel is looking great and smells so good I harvested a few by cutting the bulb and leaving the stump in the ground. I also lifted the last on my first early potatoes.
I helped tidy up the communal plot and cleaned up the barbecue and on my way home one of my neighbors gave me a bunch of sweet-peas and took my rubbish to the skip. I was not the only one working hard down there, the bees were busy as well. I was really looking forward to the barbecue but on the day it was a wash out not many people turned up.
I was down the allotment on Saturday and there is a cucumber growing, this made me happy ;-)
I've just watched 5 seasons of walking dead in two weeks, and this title cracked me up!
