The containers are filled with nutrient solution up to the level that covers the bottom 1/3 of the net pot

A simple premixed nutrient solution can be purchased online or at your local garden or hydroponics center.

Stock solutions of Calcium Nitrate and Chem-grow can also be mixed and added each time for a more fine tuned approach to growing specific plants such a greens vs fruiting tomatoes.



Copper tape is added to the container to prevent slugs and snails from reaching the plants


Many different types of media can be used. I used rock wool rooting cubes in half and a standard soil-less hydroponic mix of peat, pearlite, coco coir, and vermiculite in the other half.
