I haven't tried it with pears, we don't have any of those trees around, but I bet it would be delicious!

Yeah I think so too... Some aceto balsamico made of it.. mmm... :)
I made a small jar some months ago for an experiment. It still smells like booze... Should I put some ACV to start the vinegar fermentation? I thought the vinegar bacteria will colonize from spores in the air, but clearly, it did not.
How long has it been sitting now since you strained the pears out?
I still didn't strain it out... I should have? As I said, it's been months just sitting on the shelf.
Ooh haha! Well, I only know how to do apple vinegar. So it may be different with pears.
Are you stirring your mixture twice a day?
I stir my apple/sugar/water mixture twice a day for 14 days.
Then I strain it through cheesecloth
And I leave the strained liquid alone with a breathable lid (cloth) for 3 months and it turns to vinegar.
I'll do something similar and let you know how it went! Thanks!
You're welcome, so you don't have any mold growing in your pear concoction? Just curious how it looks.
