This system is actually installed in my barn, so in case of a leak or overflow, all water will travel with gravity to the gutter and straightaway outside. With that said, the worst thing that would happen is our well would run for an extended period of time, which is audible from within our house and would be noticed fairly quickly. Future planning involves setting up a flowmeter on my waterline to send me a text message if water usage is high.
