I'm not dead set on using pallets, I know this question will make it sound that way though 🤣 I've just got an abundance I can use so I don't want them being wasted.

Can I use them for like the top of a pig house/shelter thing in the pen? Up over head as a support with plywood on top is what I'm thinking. T posts to hold it up, and ply wood sides. I've got a fair bit of ply wood that I don't mind getting destroyed.

I think I'm pretty well getting that ground level pallets are a no-go. These do have a lot of nails in em (not exposed, but a strong critter could pretty easily expose them) and the point of the whole thing is for them to have a good life, not get hurt and sick and jabbed with nails.

Sort:

Plywood would not last the season. T posts only might work if very firmly anchored. You can use things that are WELL out of the pigs reach. With a tiny area (we had 1/4 acre for our 2 pigs) they will get bored fast and that's where the trouble starts. They even managed to get a hold of the tarp over the piggy dripper and pull it down. I have no idea how...as pigs don't fly....
