On March 1, I decided to push back against the YT censorship by boycotting the platform for 30 days. I don't like the censorship and flat out deleting of channels that push a message that is counter to their narrative, so, I wanted to actually do something about it. There are alternatives out there and if we stop showing up they will either change their practices or go away altogether. I asked that you all join me and I appreciate those of you that did. Unfortunately, they are the biggest game in town and some of the other platforms are young and have bugs. I have repeatedly tried to upload via Dtube but for some reason, I can't seem to make it happen. It just doesn't work for me. I think I'm doing everything right but it never finishes the upload. I've decided to give bitchute a try and I'm uploading my first video via that platform as I write this little blog. I hope that I'll have video uploaded that I can share with y'all soon. I have a lot of videos that are ready to go and a lot has been going on around here the last two weeks that I want to share with you. In addition to the homestead videos, I have a few cabin videos that I want to show you. Things are progressing nicely. I would like to be off of YT entirely at some point and watch it die the death it deserves. Thanks for following along and see you soon.
How big are the video files you are trying to load on DTube Tommy?
Do you compress them with Handbrake? @geordieprepper put me on to that.
It helps me get the recordings of my Alternative Lifestyle Show onto DTube.
I have tried uploading files from 450mb to 1.6gb and can't get any of them to finish uploading. I haven't used handbrake. I didn't see a limit on file size for dtube so I never even considered it. To you think file size is the issue?
I am not certain but with Handbrake I got the file for my two hour radio show down from 507MB to 197MB and that loaded okay to DTube. Before I used Handbrake I couldn't get the bigger files to load.
The other factor that might come into play is your internet upload (rather than download) speed. Mine is quite good at the moment at about 10MB. That might help with a quicker upload in case their is any time limit?
What sort of upload speed have you got?
I can't upload anything to Dtube, either :(
I don't understand it. Frustrating!!!! Hopefully, either they fix whatever it is or I figure out what in the heck I'm doing wrong.
Well, it's slightly comforting that it's not just me. When I try, it gets stuck on the "snap" upload. I even tried using Firefox like a lot of the troubleshooting tutorials suggested, no luck. But sometimes I can't even play other people's Dtube videos either, so maybe it's just buggy in general. It's aggravating to watch everyone else having fun with it!
