Well, that was a first!
Just the other day, we found our first white chicken egg on our homestead. Ever since we started keeping laying hens we have only had light brown eggs, but now we are getting a periodical white one. Something has obviously changed. Do you want to know what changed?
NOW WHERE DID THAT WHITE EGG COME FROM?
Just the other day we celebrated the eighth birthday of Pinkie-Pepper. At one point, I gathered up the older @little-peppers and took a walk over to a neighbor's house. Unbeknownst to Pinkie, they had a special gift that they wanted to give her for her birthday.
This was an interesting one, since we did not know that there was going to be a chicken in the gift bag! It wasn't in there long and had plenty of room to breathe, but they told Pinkie-Pepper to open it right away. She was sure surprised!
They were also getting rid of their other chickens, so they told us that we could buy them if we wanted to. Since the @little-peppers have been saving some money lately and they are doing a good job with their schoolwork and chores, we allowed them to pick some up.
In the end we got five new laying hens. Two were gifted to Pinkie-Pepper for her birthday and the other three were purchased by the @little-peppers. It was a very happy day for those @little-peppers!
Anyway, many kinds of chickens lay different colored eggs. Some may be white, grey, bluish, greenish, or many shades of brown. New chickens means new eggs, and in this case, it also means a new color! Mystery solved!
As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

LOL How adorable to get a hen for a gift!
steemit chat message @papa-pepper
on it.
Its been a long time have seen a white egg. A fowl may lay 8 eggs, 7 may be yellow and 1 white. Guess the white is the chosen one.
Different colors from different hens.
lots of chicken @papa-pepper, can always eat chicken egg, add vitality, thank you for sharing.
I really like your idea .. from where you get an idea like this ..
Haha, I know the feeling!
We have had brown egg layers for years. This year I happen to have one leghorn hen, (the only female from a batch of ordered fertile eggs), and when she started laying, the novelty of her white eggs was astounding. The kids collect the eggs, and they LOVED the white eggs almost as much as finding a 'fart' egg, or the rare shell-less egg. ♥
LOL - Ah yes, the rare, shell-less fart eggs!
Haha, those are ultra-rare! :D
a smart papa-pepper boy may be a useful person in the masadapan later he must be gifted for his future obedient son to his father may behasil papa.
Great show, I like it!
I like it!
good post my friend
...because he is the "chosen one." He will lead all other chickens to freedom. He must be...eliminated.
Mmmmm...who wants breakfast!!?

The white egg must've been a glitch, that happens sometimes. heard they're releasing a patch soon to fix it. Might wanna download that! ;)
So who gets the white egg?? lol
Hey bud thats pretty interesting I am not too sure I totally agree with the different chicken species laying different colour eggs but I do speak under correction as far as I know it is all about diet. In South Africa all our eggs are brown as they are the most popular, abroad I hear many eggs are white for the same reason. I will ask my Dad @quailbreeder to pop in and comment but as far as I know its diet. Time for an experiment? You may in a few weeks find that same birds egg colour darkening as it now receives the same diet as the others be interesting to see keep us updated I would be very interested to see if my analogy is correct. Cheer$;)
Ahhh you were right me wrong my Dad just whatsapped me said it is species like a leghorn always lays a white egg. You learn a new thing daily and today I certainly did. Cheer$;)
Maybe someone bought it at a local grocery store and put it there as joke?
Have you considered the Easter Bunny?
LOL with delicious chocolate centre.. haha.. You well mate long time? Missed all my ol mates from contest ;)
Ha ha! All is good. Great to hear from you!
It does my heart good when I hear of kids getting practical pets like chickens
Homesteading is a wonderful place to grow up!
I believe that the American housewives mostly buy white eggs? Us South Africans only buy the brown egg. I've never even seen a white egg on supermarket shelves
Chat again !
Hens that lay white eggs are not too common in this part. Though I've see white eggs several times, I've not tasted it before. Will like to know how the taste is one of this days.
probably came from that white chicken
Preaching the Gospel in the Philippines, there are many times I am given a live chicken. When in the states I had chickens that laid brown, white, speckled, blue, green and a reddish pink egg shell.
She looks very happy!
The kids look so happy with the chickens. Brought back good memories of chasing them around my uncle’s farm, trying to get them back in the coup. :)
Many Happy Returns to Pinkie-Pepper! What a cool birthday gift! Now you have different choices of colours for your morning eggs.
I repeat it Papa, for the umpteenth time, you are doing incredibly well, with @little-peppers. Teaching them savings early on, and how to place appropriate value on their purchasing power. They could have used it as little kids would, but they rather got something of value. This is impressive, for kids their age. What was i expecting anyway? A genius scientist as mum, and a dynamic father. Mystery solved. Your smile right now, is my proof. Hahaha
It's so cool that your kids like hens! Sounds like you all have a very neat home life :) I'm still new to steemit, so I just came across you in my exploration phase (lol) and I'm definitely going to be checking out any other posts you have :)
Thanks for sharing this! I always wondered why some eggs are white and some are brown! (That's all I've ever seen from grocery stores I go to, being in the city for most my life)
See ya around!
