What happens when you flock of Jacob's Sheep suddenly find themselves without borders?
This almost got really crazy. Thankfully, it was a planned move and not a breakout, but still, things can get kind of hairy. After exhausting one pasture, we had to move our flock of Jacob's Sheep to another pasture, and @papa-pepper decided that we would just try to guide them across open terrain!
SHEEP WITHOUT FENCES!!!
Here is the hard working crew of @little-peppers. Thankfully, they allow us to accomplish many things that we could never do with only one or two children. When we need a team, or many bodies to help, we've often already got them on hand. If you notice the field behind them, you can see that the grass has been mowed down pretty short. In order to let this grass regrow, we decided to move the sheep. Unfortunately, it was quite a distance that we had to move them this time.
Originally, I had intended to make a video of our efforts, but we soon realized that things were going to be way too crazy. In fact, @bluerthangreen even happened to be driving by and decided that he had best get out and help. While I may not have captured @bluerthangreen on film, trust me, he was there and being as helpful as always.
I did manage to get a photo of the @little-peppers though. Basically, we had to run them up our driveway and then along a fence-line. Sheep can be somewhat easy to shepherd, so I figured that we would be able to keep them pinned against the fence and moving in the correct direction. Other than one little run through the woods in another direction, things pretty much went as planned.
Once the sheep found the hole in the fence (temporary gate) they eagerly went on in to the new pasture. Enticed by the lush, green grass, there was no stopping them from heading the right way then.
While we made some risky decisions, they were at least calculated and we controlled a few of the variables. Eventually we hope to have a better system in place, but we are making do for now. Thankfully, the sheep were only on the loose when we let them out, and they made it safely to the new pasture! For the time being, this will be their home, and so far, they are enjoying it!
As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

Thank You! ⚜
Nice one, i think i might say the sheep are educated lol. For not trying to dispearse themselves in different directions or going MIA. They just move calmly without panick to the nearest greener pastures and make do with what they could find. Nice behaviour from your sheep @papa-pepper. Keep'em sheep up
happy to guide the beautiful sheep with @little-peppers, they will be obedient and settled because the maintenance is very good and orderly, thanks for sharing, @papa-pepper, regards to @lettle-peppers.😊

hi @ papa-pepper i guess it was really hard work because sheep are big headed and then moving with them for a longer distance is really timesome but thank God it later worked out for you any also the Gif is really interesting steemit potrays the statement of time is money
I'm glad that you liked that GIF! It makes a good point!
In this vast place they will get plenty of food.Although they are a little tiring because running it will pay off with the amount of food. I love these sheep
LMAO, I wish I could range freely like your sheep.
By the way.... I like this your beards o.
That is the feeling of freedom. Thank God you have hand to help you most especially @little-peppers. I cherish them a lot. You are blessed to have them
Glad it worked out. How often to you have to move them?
Depends on the pasture size, rain, rate of growth, and number of animals. No easy answer to that.
Moving animals can be tricky, especially when they aren't in the mood to move or want to go in another direction entirely. :D We've had full grown pigs break out, go over to our neighbors and dig up their front yard, which wasn't good and we learned pretty quickly what not to do. :D
Its wonderful that all your little peppers were able to help out. :D They look really happy to help out, it's so nice when everyone gets involved. :D Many hands make light work, as they say. :D
God bless you and the whole pepper clan. :D Have an awesome day my fabulous friend! :D
I love visiting your publications as I learn more every day about the sheep it is good to always learn new things more than ever I say that the saying that says every day is a new discovery I always put to the test
Sheep like other animals, usually have a mind of their own. They are lead by their stomachs, so if the eating is good in front of them they will head that way. They can cover a lot of ground in short order. Thankfully, you have a good crew. Ever think of a sheepdog? My granddad had one on his homestead. Well trained and never bothered the other animals (chicken, geese, ducks, turkeys and guinea fowl). Made his one-man operation a lot easier.
We have thought of sheepdogs, especially recently.
