Show Me Your Greens

My own garden isn't doing very well at the moment. I'm still trying to figure out what has been infecting my plants. I was pretty sure it was leaf spot disease, until a friend of mine pointed out the damage that thrips can do to your plants. So now I don't know anymore...

I'm a bit scared to plant everything out before I am 100% sure I have found the right treatment, so I'm running behind a whole lot.

So far, my garden is nothing but a sad story, and I can definitely use some cheering up.
For that, I'm counting on you to share your garden updates and take my mind of my own garden trouble.

Welcome to the SteemIt Community Garden Journal Challenge, which encourages you to share your monthly (indoor) garden/balcony updates with your fellow Steemians and create your own garden journal.

You did. I'm ashamed to have to admit that I won't be able to get out the winners' annnouncement post today either. It has been such a busy weekend, and today was even worse. It's almost 9pm here and time to spend some quality time. It's at the top of my list for tomorrow, though. Always happy to get an extra entry 😁

Nothing wrong with being an extra :-)

Indeed. Definitely if you look at the outcome 😉

I'm super late to the party again...
But maybe you guys still wanna check out my garden update:
https://steemit.com/gardenjournal2019/@exator/garden-update-may-2019

Better late than never, right. I'm going to try to publish the winners' announcement today, but I'm not sure if I will find the time. It's a shame actually - I'm always super late..

Of course it's maybe a little bit late. But here is my entry May update.

The bounty has been paid out, but entries are welcom as long as I don't get the winners' post up - and it is very unlikely I will be able to before Monday :0)

I know but anyway in May and summer all plants are so green and that I don't want to miss this months update!

Posted using Partiko Android

Hey @simplymike! I really really hope to make an entry! I have so much to share! But now it's 4th time I try to open this post, finally made it - there's such poor internet reception here in the forest! But maybe I'll manage to hike into civilisation and get something together!

Posted using Partiko Android

@frejafri, it's pretty unlikely I will be able to get the winners' post out this weekend - a friend is having his birthday party, starting on Saturday, ending on Sunday. This means you've still got time to join. I mean, the bounty has been paid out already, but the contest doesn't close until I have published the winners' post. 👍

Cool, i might make it then, but no promises - my weekend is pretty booked also 😵 ❤

Thanks for joining again, @mrnightmare89 :0)

well it's a waste not to share our little garden, nextime I will show you the bigger part of our garden. hehe

Thanks for joining, @allyson19

Such a wonderful contest. My garden looks so miserable right now. A long summer without much rain lately and the ground is SO dry. Small vegetable plants struggle to survive the sooty mold that attaches to the oak leaves that are now falling over the entire garden. About all I can do is prepare the soil as much as possible for Spring. Hope the contest is still going in our Spring as I'd love to show you the garden then. ♥︎♥︎⚖️♥︎♥︎

I've kept tis going for over year now. Unless something very bad happens - or no one participates anymore - I'm pretty sure it will still be around 😉

Thanks for reminding me to come over and officially enter. I hope you get your situation in the garden figured out soon!

Hey! Even bengy...

Lol... I cound't help myself :0)

Looking forward to your post, @bengy

Does this mean the plants only get infected outside... at a certain high... ever covered a few. How about the roots?
Only saw this with plants which had too less water or too much.

I'm still very cautious, but it seems I have it under control... more or less.
I have never looked at the roots, though. I will when there's a new outbreak.

Our young apple tree (2 years old), however, seems to be infected with everything you can think of. Leaf curl disease, leaf roller worms, leaf spot disease,... I'm going to try and save him, but I'm afraid he's too far gone...

It is the first time I hear an Apple tree has so many diseases 😞.

I only had it with a part of the elder. All on different places. I started bin cutting them all for some years, right above the ground. Some I removed. A part is now healthy after 4 years.

About the rest of your garden. You could try to plant herbs in between or around it (if you not already did so).

Already tried coffee grounds around the roots? I used that too (hard to get for me since I do not drink coffee).

Posted using Partiko Android

I indeed plants my herbs in between my veggies. Since I started doing that, it's difficult to fill up our herb spiral, lol.

Never tried coffee grounds, for the exact same reason: we don't drink coffee 😆

I'm thinking about taking the apple tree out. I think it is way too far gone to be saved ...

What a pity, I wonder what the roots look like.

Posted using Partiko Android

I'm still not sure whether to just trim it completely or take it out. If we do take it out, we'll probably just cut it above the ground. But I will try to take a look anyway

I'm looking forward to it :0)

Well I can finally say I'm getting out in the garden with things sprouting. We had a real late start but it has finally warmed up so it's busy, busy, busy.
I'll snap a few photos and get an entry in for the May #GardenJournal2019

I know how that feels like, lol

Thanks. I did too :0)

A great post and meaningful, opened my eyes today. Found your post in C-squared "self promotion".

Getting out in the garden now to take some photos of my banksia that are blooming at the moment! Ugh, so much weeding to do!

I know how that feels 😀

I always love taking a look at the gardens people share here on Steem, It's like watching a treasure I can't have (yet)

Same here. During the winter months, when my own garden is dead, seeing other people's garden can always put a smile on my face 😉

and may I ask, where do you live / your garden is located?

personally, I dont have a green thumb. but sometimes I do (little) things I am proud with. but I rarely visit my countryhouse! during the summer I promise will be taking some new pics - and share them with you.

I'm located in Belgium, the little country where you never know what the weather will be like, lol

o-oo!! I know what is it about, hehe!

there exist a running joke about the habitants of my beloved city: when a real St.Petersberg's citizen is being told the weather forecast, he rechecks: "And what about the evening?"

lmao - that's exactly it :0)

It is really great that you are promoting the habit of planting of gardening and planting. We have some plants at the rooftop.I don't whether or not I can consider those plant as a garden. If I had a garden I would participate in this challenge.

Best wishes to all those who participate.

Please, feel free to share what you have on the rooftop. It's called 'the Garden Journal Challenge', but everyone who's growing something, whether it is in a garden, indoor, on a balcony... or even on a rooftop, can join :0)

This looks like a really good challenge. I don't have a green thumb. But would be interested in seeing who takes up the challenge.

I thought I didn't have a green thumb too, up until a couple of years ago 😂

Great contest you are running! And I like that you told how your garden is struggling, not everything can come up roses! Now I hope that you find out what is going on with the garden and get it straightened out.

Thanks! I hope so too :0/

Nice things to come in near future hope for the best..
