Welcome to this week's earth-centered curation @the-hearth, featuring some of the best off grid, food growing, he(art) inspiring high quality content on Steemit.
This week I invite you to check out @trucklife-family's Welcoming New Steemians' Post:
Come On Lets Welcome Some New Steemians To This Great Community
One way I wish to do so, it to reach out to some of the new people joining and help them get some more exposure...By doing this I would like if some of us who have been on here for a while could start to reach out , I have been searching through the introducemyself tag in order to find new steemians that I think add to the diversity on here. Hopefully some of you will feel inspired to say hello, even offer some advice and support.
She does a great job! Please check out her 8 featured Steemians in her post above :)
@mr-altilis, @river1, @freaknature, @tamrakay, @nomadicspirit, @faune, @laurenkrumwiede
We all know how good it feels to be welcomed when we are new!
Curation
First we start off with an inspiring and educational post from @jackdub.
Off-Grid: Rebuilding the Rocket Stove Boiler and Connecting Outdoor Plumbing for Spring Showers
The basic 'L' shape of the rocket stove chimney, burning chamber, and fuel loading chute works well for creating and updraft of air for the chimney. The flow of air in from the bottom created by the fire heat rising causes the wood fuel to burn clean with less smoke. When rock, cement, clay, earth, or other mass is able to be heated by the fire, the combination of air flow and heat make the off gases of the heated wood burn up instead of out as smoke.
In this post, he walks us through creating a rocket stove AND hooking it up for a completely awesome outdoor shower!
Next up is @thegiftofself with 2 amazing posts on The Softening Feminine:
The Softening Feminine...A Powerful Force That Can Heal the World (Part 1)
AND
The Softening Feminine...A Powerful Force That Can Heal the World (Part 2)
I often hear people saying that they "give too much"...or that they are "done giving!" A client recently said to me that they have given "all that they have...and there is nothing left!" She was told by a "spiritual teacher" to set boundaries and to give to only those deserving of her love. Really? Is this what we have come to? How do we get from the place of feeling depleted by "giving too much" to a place of being devoted to service for the well-being and highest good of all?
In these posts she walks us through her journey through what she calls the "ungrounded feminine" into the "grounded feminine" and finding her wellspring of power and love not through fighting others or setting boundaries, but by softening and taking care of her self. I (Wren) found this post series incredibly beautiful and healing. Check it out if you feel attracted!
Next up is an encouraging post by @warpedweaver where she updates us on the success of her plant propagation!
UPDATE ON CROWN OF THORNS PROPOGATION
Plant propagation (the cutting off of living growing plant matter, usually a branch, and sticking it in soil -simplified version, but the gist) is a great way to get more of the plants that you love. Congrats @warpedweaver for your success here and we're glad to see your post today!
Next up we have a post by @stortebeker
Murals in Canada – Native Images of Reconciliation
Reconciliation is a subject that is close to our heart and art sharing this topic is obviously a part of @the-hearth's central mission of heart + art + earth = hearth! the injustices and travesties that have happened to the native people at the hand of Canada and the US specifically need to be talked about and dealt with more (by all of us) so we're really refreshed to see his post on this. Check his inspiring post out!
Somewhere along the Galloping Goose Regional Bike-Trail (or precisely where it crosses Seaton street, only a minute from Recyclistas bike shop) there is an unsuspecting underpass for pedestrians and bikes, under the Trans Canada Highway, running along the Goose. On the southern side it’s nothing but a white-walled tube with nothing to adorn it but a plaque of 1977, indicating the year it was put in place, and a warning sign mentioning heavy fines for anyone who defaces public or private property.
This next incredibly educational post by @walkerland is probably one we all need to read about healthy skin care in relation with the sun
Let the Sunshine Down Upon You: Practical Healthy Sun Protection
The fact is, yes, we are vulnerable to sunburn and skin damage when we get too much sun. On the other hand we need good doses of unfiltered sunshine on our skin for health and vitality.
I'm going to talk about the key methods of natural sun protection including: Ingesting internal sunscreens with powerful foods that are scientifically proven to help us, building up melanin, our bodies natural sunscreen, and protecting skin safely.
