Animals on the Homestead - a Gift from the Barn Cat

in #homesteadphotography7 years ago (edited)

If you're squeamish, you might want to look away ....

... okay, fair warning given.

The sweet little barn cat brought home a present for me last night.

My very own dead field mouse!!!

I went out to bring her some food & she dropped it right near the steps. She still ate the food I brought her, but she kept winding around my legs and pushing it towards me a little, like "Hey, Human! Just so you know I don't NEED you, but thanks anyways"

Sorry for the low quality - it was dark & this was as still as she got!

Showing off her trophy... LOL!

i know, what a little stinker! :) LOL

Most barns cats pull there weight on the homestead. We found the females make better mousers.
nice post.

this is the first one i've seen her bring in this winter. maybe she had a surplus and was willing to share?

I really think of these things as gifts. How sweet of her to bring you her bounty. Sharing is caring :)

sharing is caring - she's such a little steemit kitty :) LOL

What a good kitty. Earning her keep ;)

that's my good, good girl!

That's how you know you have a good cat. There was a cat from a neighbor that hangs around and we will occasionally find dead mice scattered around. Any little bit will help keep them out of our animal feed. Great Job!
