Nacio en La Plata, 14 de julio de 1923 y falleció Buenos Aires, 29 de julio de 2000) fue un médico, inventor, educador y cardiocirujano argentino, reconocido mundialmente por haber desarrollado el bypass coronario con empleo de la vena safena magna.

Pero aca hoy quiero hablar de él, porque en conmemoración con sus 100 años de existencia, creo que vale hablar de personas que marcar la historia de muchos.
Él fue una persona humilde con una vocación unica. No solamente por haber ayudado a muchas personas, sino y sobre todo por su humanidad por sobre todas las cosas.
But here today I want to talk about him, because in commemoration of his 100 years of existence, I think it is worth talking about people who mark the history of many.
He was a humble person with a unique calling. Not only for having helped many people, but above all for his humanity above all things.
Luego de Haberse recibido como médico, se fue a La Pampa a cubrir una licencia de un colega en una provincia lejana de nuestro país. Después de varios años decide irse a Estados Unidos para seguir estudiando cirugía torácica.
En este viaje va virando hacia la cirugía cardiovascular y desarrolla la técnica del Bypass con la cual se hace uno de los medicos mas famosos del mundo. Hoy en día esta técnica ya salvo más de 55000000 de personas en todo el mundo ya que el ataque cardiaco es una de las muertes más comunes.
After being received as a doctor, he went to La Pampa to cover a leave of absence for a colleague in a distant province of our country. After several years he decided to go to the United States to continue studying thoracic surgery.
On this journey he turned towards cardiovascular surgery and developed the Bypass technique with which he became one of the most famous doctors in the world. Today this technique already saves more than 5,500,000 people around the world since heart attack is one of the most common deaths.

El Fue un educador por naturaleza, siempre quiso transmitir sus conocimientos con colegas. Volvió a su país y creo un hospital universitario (fundación Favaloro) formando allí miles de profesionales de la salud y transmitiendo algo que en una época donde no existía transmitió con mucha pasión tratar a los pacientes como personas siendo profesionales de la salud mucho más humanos. No solamente siendo un diagnóstico por resolver.
He was an educator by nature, he always wanted to transmit his knowledge with colleagues. He returned to his country and created a university hospital (Favaloro foundation), training thousands of health professionals there and transmitting something that in a time when it did not exist, he transmitted with great passion, treating patients as people, being health professionals much more human. Not only being a diagnosis by resolution.
Era un gran comunicador social. Queriendo siempre prevenir el exceso del alcohol, la vida saludable y la actividad física.
Lucho muchísimo por los valores de los medicos. En Argentina al igual que los docentes son dos profesiones o vocaciones muy desvaloradas. Hacía mucho trabajo para la sociedad al punto de que su fundación llego a la quiebra cuando el estado dejo de pagarle todos los pacientes de la tercera edad que el recibía en su clínica.
He was a great social communicator. Always wanting to prevent excess alcohol, healthy living and physical activity.
I fight a lot for the values of doctors. In Argentina, like teachers, they are two very undervalued professions or vocations. He did a lot of work for society to the point that his foundation went bankrupt when the state stopped paying for all the elderly patients he received in his clinic.
Siguió luchando sin descanso y empezó a aparecer en medios de comunicación en su lucha por esos valores y en esa puja por esa lucha de valores empezó a hacerse una persona que estuvo en el ojo de todo un país tras muchas apariciones televisivas y muchas declaraciones muy politizadas sobre la situación medica del país, y que fueron derivando en educación y valores morales que ponían en jaque a la política de ese momento.

Luego de mucho tiempo en donde la vida de Rene se fue exponiendo exponencialmente y los medios fueron invadiendo su vida privada además de cada movimiento en su vida profesional, sumado a tratar de mantener la calidad de su hospital universitario en el año 2000 en su casa de barrio Parque se suicidó luego de haber pasado por una gran depresión.

Recordar apenas un resumen de su vida me hizo llorar. Y trate de entender porque llore por un hombre que no conocí. Me di cuenta de que nada tenía que ver con lo personal, pero si me atravesó lo que a él le paso. La sensibilidad emocional que tenía por su entorno. No era ajeno a los demás, fue solidario se preocupó por el bien común y no por sus propios intereses. un tipo con tal sensibilidad por los demás por los valores morales y éticos termino siendo desbordado por una sociedad corrompida sin poder encontrar una manera posible de ayudar y cambiar las cosas.
Remembering just a summary of his life made me cry. And try to understand why I cried for a man I never met. I realized that it had nothing to do with the personal, but what happened to him did go through me. The emotional sensitivity he had for his surroundings. He was not alien to others, he was supportive, he cared about the common good and not his own interests. A guy with such sensitivity to others for moral and ethical values ended up being overwhelmed by a corrupt society without being able to find a possible way to help and change things.
Espero que mas personas como el habiten este planeta. Espero que todos seamos un poco mas humanos y más solidarios. Espero que nuestra sociedad que tan inteligente se nos dice ser, pueda reconectar con nuestra esencia.
I hope more people like him inhabit this planet. I hope we are all a little more human and more supportive. I hope that our society, which we are told to be so intelligent, can reconnect with our essence.
Soy Ateo y por ende no tengo nigun creo. Pero deseo desde lo más profundo de mi corazón, por mis hijos, los hijos de otros y por lo hermoso que es este planeta que nos alberga y cuida, que nos abramos más y sintamos más.
