Well we have seen the 60th Grammy awards pass and the biggest winners turned out to be Bruno Mars and Kendrick Lamar.
Some awards which stood out for me -Best Pop Duo/Group Performance-Portugal The Man-"Feel it still"
Best Dance/Electronic Album: Kraftwerk-"3-D The Catalogue
Best Rock song-Foo Fighters-"Run"
Best Urban Contemporary Album-The Weekend "Starboy"

There have been a few good albums that have been released this year. Some have been highly anticipated and for me failed to hit the sweet spot. The new albums from MGMT- "Little Dark Age" and the release from Franz Ferdinand- have promising moments, both just have too many average songs to make them memorable. The same can be said for the new Awolnation- "Here come the runts" .There are some great tracks like

So what are the albums that I have enjoyed over the past few months?
Hookworms-"Microshift". Hookworms is a 5 piece indie rock band from Leeds/Halifax England. In Microshift their 3rd studio album the band has really produced a stunning album from start to finish. The electronic sound is always present reminding me of Devo back in the 80's.The theme is mainly to do with challenges men face and the songs really transition well into the next.It is hard to believe that these guys have not given up their day jobs and are only part time musicians. This one is a goody.

When I heard U2 where bringing out a new album I can honestly say that I was not in the least bit excited. It took me at least a month after release to give it a listen. U2 have just been so mediocre for so long that I could not see them ever getting back to the highs of "The Joshua Tree" , "Achtung Baby" and "Rattle and Hum".
Their new album "Songs of Experience" is nothing like I expected. This album is a return to their best form with a commercially friendly offering that see them return to form.Best songs "Get out of your own way","The Showman","The Little Things That Give You Away".
