Around the Campfire: Family Portraits

in #horror8 years ago

There once was a hunter who got lost in the woods. By nightfall, he gave up and instead of an exit out of the woods, he found a cabin. The door was open, and he looked inside. There was nobody there but a bed was in the corner with the fireplace well lit. He decided to stay for the night, making up his mind to ask the owner for permission in the morning, if one ever showed up. He immediately jumped on the bed, tired and sleepy.

After some time, he felt like he was being watched. When he opened his eyes, he noticed that the wall was covered with what seemed to be family portraits. Upon closer inspection, he noticed that each looked uglier than the last. He felt a bit uneasy because it was as if the painting’s eyes were following him, watching him closely. To try and shake off his uneasiness, he faced the opposite wall, ignored the ugly paintings, covered his head with a blanket then went straight to sleep.

In the morning, the hunter woke up to find a great surprise. He discovered that there were no family portraits on the wall, only windows.
