One night, I was looking for an internet cafe because I needed to do some college assignments via the internet. That night, all internet cafes were closed, so I had to walk far from my house to find it. Finally I saw an old apartment. There was a sign that said there was an internet cafe on the 6th floor.
When I walked through the entrance, there was a dark passage leading to a small elevator. I pressed the button for the elevator and when the door opened, I stepped inside.
In many Asian countries, many buildings do not have 4 floors. The number 4 is considered unlucky because in Japanese, the word for "four" is "死 (Sǐ)" which sounds almost the same as "Shǐ (dead)".
When I got into the elevator, the buttons on the elevator were 1-2-3-5-6, no number 4. I pressed the button for the 6th floor. The elevator doors closed and the elevator slowly started going up.
When the elevator stopped and the door opened, I was about to step outside when I realized something was wrong. In front of the elevator door was a very dark passage. From the light that came out of the elevator, I could see random furniture covered in white cloth. Looks like it hasn't been occupied in years.
I thought that I must be on the wrong floor, so I checked the switch, but none of the buttons lit up. No one can show me which floor I'm on right now.
Just then, I saw something moving at the end of the dark passage. I couldn't see what it was, but it looked like someone was wearing some kind of dress. The figure moved slowly down the corridor, towards the elevator. It scared me and panicked, I started pressing the button to close the elevator door.
Suddenly, the lights in the elevator flashed and went out. I was in the middle of complete darkness. I was so scared, I almost fainted from fright.
Just as I was about to completely lose consciousness, the lights in the elevator flashed again and came back on. The elevator doors closed, the elevator restarted and started going up again. I breathed a sigh of relief.
When the door opened this time, I was in an internet cafe. I went there and told the girl who works there what happened. As he listened, his face turned pale.
He said that several customers and some of his co-workers had experienced the same thing. He himself had never experienced anything, but he told me about the history of the building.
Apparently, the 4th floor had been a hair salon at one time. The salon business was very busy, until one of the women who worked there committed suicide. No one knows the reason, but he sliced his wrist and bled to death in the salon.
The salon continues to operate, but they are haunted by strange and inexplicable events. Sometimes, when customers wash their hair, the water will turn red like blood. Others claim that when they look in the mirror, they will catch a glimpse of a ghostly figure standing behind them. When they turned around, no one was there. Due to this incident, the salon's reputation deteriorated and began to lose customers. In the end, they were forced to go out of business.
The owners of this apartment tried to rent out the 4th floor to another business, but when they found out that someone had committed suicide there, no one wanted to rent it. Finally, the owner rented out the floor at a price that was too cheap, finally the floor was rented by a businessman who was planning to open a stationery shop.
However, while they were trying to do some renovations on the floor, there was a series of mysterious accidents. Workers' tools would occasionally disappear, window panes suddenly shattered when no one was nearby and one worker had to be amputated because his hand was caught when the elevator doors closed. Finally, the workers there were frightened and refused to continue their work and the businessman left.
The owner of the building gave up trying to rent out the 4th floor and ended up closing it down. He replaced the elevator button and reprogrammed it so that no one could go to the 4th floor.
At least, that's how it should be.
But strange things happen very often, when people take the elevator, sometimes they stop on the 4th floor and when the door opens, some people will see the figure of a woman approaching them from the darkness.
