Pope Francis on Sunday, July 28, prayed for the migrants who died in the Mediterranean this week. The disaster Agency for refugees, the United Nations has called the worst shipwreck this year.
Addressing thousands of people gathered in St. Peter's square for his Sunday address, the Pontiff expressed regret and asked the faithful to join him in prayer for the dozens of migrants who died trying to reach Europe.
"I learned with pain the news about a dramatic shipwreck, which occurred in recent days in the waters of the Mediterranean sea, which killed dozens of migrants, including women and children," said Francis.
The Pope called on the international community to act immediately to ensure security and dignity for all.
