Well done! If they're ASKING to go back, you're doing it right. ;~P
My sis and I used to shadow Dad on construction jobs. We cleaned bricks for re-use, were 'go-fers', were an extra set of hands, or sometimes just provided an extra bit a weight for leverage. If it wasn't construction, then it would be rebuilding his '57 T-bird. Plus, we had grandparents and great-aunts & uncles showing us how to tend a large garden destined for canning or pickling.
Sis and I never got ripped off for car repairs we paid to have done. We understood how an engine worked. Could change a tire or the oil, in a pinch. (After due consideration of how bad we'd wreck our nails. We're girls, after all.) We knew a claw hammer from a ballpeen and a socket wrench from a open end. We could prep, sow, weed, water, trouble-shoot, harvest, and preserve (family production line-style, of course) a season's worth of fruit and veggies. My great-aunt had a full-on, dirt floor root cellar where all the bounty was stored.
The skills you are teaching the kids will last a lifetime! All of the folks, but my Dad have passed on now. I'll be 60 next year and can still hear each of them giving me advice!
Amazing. Those skills NEED to be passed on or we are doomed.
Exactly. The kids are sponges at this age, too. Add the fun and you're good to go. Awesome job, @papa-pepper!
