This is a continuation of my first post here.
So the first hat only took about 45 minutes or so. It was pretty late at night, but I decided to go ahead and attempt a second hat since I had all of my sewing stuff out.
I used the same cotton batting and I left a little bit of the over hang so I could fold it in on the brim and give the hat a more finished look.
After all the pieces are cut out I sewed each side together, same method as the other hat.
I worked the inside and the outside pieces together until they were seated the way I wanted them. Then it was a simple matter of folding the edge over and finishing it.
The patterns didnt line up quite as well as they did on the first hat, so I decided to add some edging and hide some of my mistakes.
And now I have two hats!
I was very excited to wear my hats at May Crown in Canada, and they served their purpose well. I was able to hold my longer veil onto my head and fold the edge out to keep the sun off of my face.
I received a lot of feedback on the hats, and even won populace choice at a smaller local event. A different method of construction was suggested to me, so I may attempt that soon. Thanks for looking!
Nice work! I assume this is for the SCA?
Yes it is. I play in An Tir. I actually talk about that and my persona in my first post about the Persian hats. Thanks for stopping by! @amberyooper
