Why Give Free Advice When You Can Get Paid? Hello Musing.io

in #howto7 years ago (edited)

Thanks to @superoo7 for introducing this Quora-Clone-On-Steemit, because I gotta say, it's highly addictive! And frankly, it's super effective too.

And here are 4 damn good reasons why I think you should at least give Musing.io 30 minutes a day:

#1. Become A Subject-Matter Expert In Your Category

Now, you can write a long post about your strong topics, and it will probably engage some readers. Heck, you can even @dsound and @dlive your content. But there's something magical about responding to a question on Steemit:

The fact that someone is asking the question (and that it's trending, more below) means they already want to read your answer.

So, instead of producing contents that others may or may not be keen to read on, you are essentially giving answers to someone's burning question. Now, which one do you think will be more attractive?

And if you answer the questions within your niches well, you're so gonna dominate that category!

#2. It's Like Running A Contest, Only Faster and More Effective!

You can post questions to Musing.io too, and if you are smart in asking it, you will get many Steemians answering them, and from there, give your Steemit profile the exposure it needs!

Following the psychology of Quora members, when they see a brilliant answer to a question, there's a very high likelihood that they will check out the other responses of the person, and try to find out more about the person.

While Steemit contests may be great at getting exposure and engaging the community, Musing.io is a totally different flavour, because entry to a Musing.io "contest" (i.e. answering a question there) is super easy, especially if the other party is already a subject-matter expert or have something to contribute or share.

And I'll be honest, I hardly join Steemit contest, but I am totally hooked on Musing.io (check out my feed!)

#3. Quick Way to Generate Posts (almost to a point that it feels spammy)

Your answer will be posted onto your Steemit feed (timeline)… as a post. Yes! Posts that can be upvoted by the others who visit your profile. This can give your profile visitors a good snap shot of your expertise and experience, and because the replies to Musing.io are generally shorter, it's a way easier read.

However, just like the image above, I do find that it messes up my feed A LOT! If you go into Musing.io for 30 minutes and answer a few questions, all those will be treated as individual posts! I hope Musing.io has a better way of managing this though, because it can easily be regarded as a form of spamming, don't you think?

#4. Gain New Followers that Otherwise Would Have Missed You

If many upvotes your answers, you get featured at the Hot Answer section at the top of the page, which is a great way to gain exposure and get new followers. I wasn't counting mine, but @jassicania of #teammalaysia told me in as short as 30 minutes, she got 20 new followers!

You will also be able to attract the attention of other Steemians who answer the same question, and that appeals to the other psychological principle - birds of the feather flocks together. They will be keen to find out more about you, and there, you just made new friends!

In my short time on Musing.io, and because of it's simplicity, I managed to make a few discoveries that can help you 10x your results on the platform. And here are 7 tips, tricks and techniques to help get you started:

#1. Follow the Right Categories

Pick a category that you actually have answers to the questions. Yes, you may see some categories trending better, but if you got nothing good to say there, then seriously, don't bother. You will just make a fool of yourself.

Just like how I would encourage participants in our Steemit Bootcamps to always write in the areas of their interest, as far as Musing.io goes, I would suggest working on the same concept. That's how you will gain respect from your peers too.

#2. Join the Right Conversation

Next to picking the right categories/tags, you also need to be strategic when picking questions too. Always select those questions with quite a few answers and comments, which is how you will know how trending or popular the questions are.

Read other people's answers and see how you can add value on top of that too.

#3. Mind Your Feed

Frankly, I haven't figured this out because my responses are flooding my Steemit Blog feed! It literally makes me look like a spammer! While it looks perfectly fine on Musing.io (I love the clean interface and nice font combo), but on Steemit.com, it's a totally different story.

Hope they are able to sort the issue though. :(

#4. Follow Your Categories of Interest

There's an option for you to follow tags or categories of your interest, which is a great for Musing.io to curate your feed.

#5. Ask Questions in the Areas of Your Interest

You can also create questions and have a little "contest-like" interaction on Musing.io. Ask stimulating, thought-provoking, open-ended or even controversial questions to try to engage the members on the platform.

In most platforms, you need to find ways to capture attention. That principle applies for Musing.io too.

#6. You Can Still Do Some Minor Text Formatting

Play with Bold, Italic and even lists, so your answers will look as if it's easily read, and also to make your answers "neater".

#7. Add Links to Your Other Steemit Posts on The Same Topic

This is a no brainer, but if you have an elaborate post on the question, just link the Steemit post it in your answer. This will drive traffic to your post and your profile, which is always nice.

So there you have it: my first impressions of Musing.io, and a couple to hacks to help you out. I'll be testing the platform more over the next week days, and will keep you posted on it.

Wait, why's Mav posting on Steemit nowadays?

Well, unlike other blogging and social media platform, Steemit is the only platform that allows me to earn cryptocurrency when I engage with it. Yup, one Steem is about USD5, and you, too, can earn Steem Dollars every time you:

  • Create content (articles, blog posts, podcasts, videos, photos)
  • Upvote (like) other people contents
  • Comment on other people's posts
  • Have discussions, share opinions etc!

Yup, basically it's the very same thing you're doing on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc all along!

The only difference? For once you can earn a nice income on the side!

Sign up for a free Steemit account, and you can thank me by coming back and upvoting this article. And guess what, you will earn Steem too for doing that! #awesome

Just tried it before I found your post. Yes, it is great. I asked and answered a few questions randomly without any strategy. Thanks for the strategy.

Glad you like it! Have fun! They recently changed the posting process, so it doesn't spam your feed anymore.

Tried once yesterday, yes it ia indeed really addictive. Lol.

I think i will put a lot time there too

Yeah, good use of time, really. Haha. Will look out for your question(s) too!

Haha. At the moment now question. But will surely find good question to answer.

Thanks for sharing the info on Musing.io. That does sound weird having comment like posts on your Steemit feed, but it looks like you are getting some good action there.

As always, you do an extra fine job of teaching the details of the platform and how best to use it. I'm going to have to check this out soon as I can get over. :)

Beware... It can be quite addictive once you get on there!

I agree with you. I was only on musings.io for about 10 minutes this morning after I read your first post and I was like "whoa, I need to back off for a little bit". It is totally addicting!

Great Post!

I know, right? It's still pretty new, but I like the UX very much. Not on Steemit side though, because it's so messy and spammy!

Thanks for the great insights. Minor typo error. Think it should be Quora-clone.

Thanks for pointing it out! Dang autocorrect!

I noticed all the posts showing up on my feed and was wondering what was going on - now I know! I will have to go and check it out.

Yeah, I thin they need to sort out the "spamming" issue. But then again, it's not easy to manage. :)

Thanks, you're wonderful
