How to make: HOMEMADE DEODORANT !!!

in #howto8 years ago

I think that we all know that most of deodorants on the market are bad for our health and for environment too but this fast and busy way of life makes us feel like we don't have time to make our own soaps / creams / deodorants because it takes a lot of our time.

Today I'll show you how to make this simple, healthy and efficient homemade deodorant. I already use it for a year and a half and it is really awesome! It neutralizes any smell, has a beautiful creamy texture, doesn't leave any stains on clothes and is easy to make, lasts long, it's not expensive...many benefits!!!

Ingredients:

~ 7 TBS of Extra Virgin Coconut Oil

~ 1 and 1/2 TBS of Baking Soda (without aluminum)

~ 4 TBS of corn starch
004.jpg

~ few drops of Lavender essential oil (or any essential oil that is gentle to the skin; eg. chamomile, rose...)

Mix it all up so there is no lumps. You will need to preheat the coconut oil just to liquefy it.

We are all done! This was simple and fast, right? Just pour it in a little jar and keep it on room temperature so it has nice creamy texture.

I know that all the ingredients costs but I put only 7 TBS of coconut oil (so the rest I can keep or use somewhere else) and this deodorant lasts for up to six months and I use it every morning and evening so considering that I think it's pretty cheap. It is efficient for minimally 12 hours!

If You didn't know these are one of the most common toxic ingredients in standard deodorants on the market:

Aluminium – Aluminium based compounds are used to block the sweat glands to keep the sweat from getting to the surface of the skin.

Parabens - Parabens are a class of preservatives used in the cosmetics and personal care products, having activity similar to that of estrogen in the body. Estrogen is known to cause breast cancer which is why the use of Parabens in various forms like Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Ethylparaben, or Butylparaben is closely associated with incidences of breast cancer in women near the underarm region.

Propylene glycol - Initially developed as an anti-freeze agent, propylene glycol is now used in deodorants and antiperspirants as humectants to keep substances from drying out. It is a neurotoxin and is known to cause contact dermatitis, kidney and liver damage. (...)
