HOW TO SEX A RABBIT

in #howto6 years ago

Being able to sex a rabbit can be an important skill to have, especially if you intend on controlling the population of your rabbits to one degree or another.

This is basically a video of Pinkie-Pepper and I determining what sex some of our rabbits are, but I do provide a "quick reference guide" at the beginning of this video. Here are the photos of both a male and female, so you know what you're looking for.

To watch us in action, check out the video below.

nice to have some males in your family @papa-pepper, it seemed like you were overrun with girls in your family but with these guys it makes it more even :D

LOL - at the moment, we've got five @little-peppers, 3 girls and 2 boys, so the rabbits do put the guys in the lead, but then the sheep and goats throw it off.

Darn it, blinking sheep and goats letting the males side down :D

Hmmm this is lit😅😅😅 learnt something today.

Your just really a veterenarian bro! Another rabbit calves for the future! Keep it up!

Good thing you checked this out @papa-pepper! If you miss one female you could end up with a few more bunnies...

That's right!

Brilliant and very simple when you know how - thanks for explaining this ... I thought the females had longer eyelashes 😆

LOL - You watch too many cartoons!

Totally awesome
@papa-pepper
Thank You..!!!!!

What kind of bunnies does your family have? We recently acquired Rex and Velvet Rex. We didn't realize how big the babies are to start with! Such little cuties tho. The hubbie wants to have 10 does eventually. Evidently 10 does with regular baby batches will produce enough meat in a year to equal a full grown cow. Not sure where the hubbie finds his research, but when he's bored he watches lots of youtube and dtube.

I had heard it was a buck and two does that could produce that much, but not sure. That was our goal originally, but then we gave up on eating them and stick to the sheep, goats, cows, chickens, etc.

Ours are Rex and New Zealand, with some Chinchilla mixed in.

Ooooh chinchilla, I bet they are soooo soft!

That is really cool video idea :D
