The human papillomavirus or HPV vaccine reduces the risk of cervical cancer by about 90 percent. This is the first study in the world to show this figure. The results were described by Cancer Research UK, a UK-based cancer research organization, as historic. Almost all types of uterine cancer are caused by viruses. Hopefully, the HPV vaccine can almost eradicate the disease.
Researchers say that this success means that those who have been vaccinated may need to have a much lower uterine smear test. The health of the cervix is seen through smear test. This is not a cancer test, this test helps prevent cancer.
