This needs to be said every time there is a weather event.
If you own a boat, ensure that it is prepared for the storm. Make sure they are secure with additional dock lines, clean out the scuppers, and even better, if possible, remove it from the water completely. If you can't remove it; double up your lines, use extra fenders and make sure there's no loose gear. Secure all hatches and if possible, take down the mast.
Properly preparing your boat will help to keep it safe and avoid damage. In addition, if it's safely moored, it won't become a hazard and cause additional work for the Coast Guard once the weather moves through.
Once your boat is prepared, make sure you are prepared. For the latest information on this, or any weather event, visit weather.gov.
