Ever since I could speak, I loved nothing more than singing. I grew up in a very musical family, my grandparents from Indonesia were music teachers and my late-mother was a choir teacher. She taught me almost everything I know about singing but made very clear before she died that I was only allowed to sing gospel songs, since both my late-mom and dad are pastors. I was only allowed to sing in church or Christian events. I was only three and a half years old when I came to Suriname🇸🇷 and my parents were very known amongst the Moravian Church here (Evangelische Broeder Gemeente Suriname). Every time they preached at a church, they gave me the chance to sing.
I am grateful to be #alive and blessed with this talent. Though I am very amazing at singing (at least that's what people say), I was never truly confident in my singing abilities. I have a pretty above average range and can sing in harmony, that's also my favorite thing to do when I sing with other people.
After my mother died, my dad allowed me to sing different types of songs besides gospel and allowed me to join a band... Well I joined different bands. One was called Youth Triple C and the other one was a school band, we started when I was in High school (VWO4 school band). I also took piano lessons for 6 years but didn't really feel super passionate about it compared to singing.
In 2020 my boyfriend and I started a YouTube channel called Brendan And Grace where we post cover songs, fun challenges, mukbang and vlog style videos. I have been blessed to have a talented boyfriend who plays guitar! That's a win for me!
I'll definitely tell you more about my singing journey with Brendan in the upcoming days...SO BE READY!
