**"How did it even start Grace? You used to really hate make up when you were younger!" **
As you can see, my first picture is one that I took with a "daughter" (yes I'm not just a good friend or big sister to her) of mine Ly-Ann.
We go to the same church together where we often have to do different performances like singing, dancing or even plays.
Before 2019 I never really wanted to know anything about make up, until she did mine for a very special event. For the first time ever, someone did a makeover on me and I DID NOT HATE IT!! All those years of people "messing up my face... badly". From wrong foundation shades, cake-y face, weird brows to even no brows at all. But it all started with my mom, well basically my parents. They never allowed me to like things that don't make you look "natural" so they would always scold me if I would put on a little bit of lipstick when I was younger.
When I was 14 my mother died... After that it was just my dad and I. He was a little more flexible, therefore I felt free to experiment a little bit. My friends in middle school taught me how to put on some eyeliner and..... That's basically where it stayed for a while with some red lipstick.
Personally, I was never really a fan of it. My friends tried to do some "looks" on me but I didn't like that heavy feeling on my face. I disliked it too because I couldn't really understand why you would not want to look "natural". Slowly but surely my mindset changed throughout the years with the help of movies. Horror movies to be specific. WHY HORROR you may ask? Well I started to realize that it is such a true talent and art to transform one person, into something completely different! I wanted to really know more about it, especially since Ly-Ann helped with that too.
She taught me the basics and I turned to YouTube for more knowledge. Step by step I went from simple natural make up looks, to soft glam and even full glam!
Where I thought that it would never happen... It did! Guess you can say... NEVER SAY NEVER!
In 2020 I thought... "I want to do this for real, get a certificate and really get to know the art behind it."
And there it was! An ad on Facebook for a natural/soft glam and smokey/full glam make up course by "Makeup By Candy". At first I wanted to enter for the natural/soft glam but she insisted that I do the latter since my basics skills are quite good.
I completed that course successfully and started to go ham after that.
I started to share more of my work on Social Media in the hopes that someone would need my services in the future.
And it did help a lot. Everyone could finally see the "NEW ME".
For the upcoming days I will share more of my looks with cool stories behind it and why I chose Looking Gracious by Ema as a name for my make up accounts...So I hope you're excited and ready to see some of my finest works here on #HIVE
