May 17, theymos, Legendary Member in BitcoinTalk and an Administrator, posted a thread about HoweyCoins — that is said to be the only BitcoinTalk-endorsed ICO.
But because I doubt this project, and I actually never imagined that theymos (or the BitcoinTalk itself) will endorsed an ICO — I checked every little details, in every single links given. And for Pete's sake, I've seen the great sense and real purpose of this endorsed ICO.
HoweyCoins ICO is completely a scam, and a fake ICO. Yes, it is indeed a fake. The U.S. SEC created and launched this ICO to freely inform and make awareness to all of the possible investors of an ICO.
Here's the thing that SEC wants us to realize:
CLAIMS OF HIGH, GUARANTEED RETURNS
- According in HoweyCoins' testimonials, they anticipate OVER 1% daily returns, with DOUBLE 2% returns on Tier 1 investors in pre-ICO stage secured purchases. Wait, was that even a good thing or just too good to be true?
CELEBRITY ENDORSMENTS
- Really? Endorsments from a celebrity doesn't mean the project is a legitimate one. And also, what if the account that used by the said celebrity was fake? Oh, dummy babies.
CLAIMS OF “SEC-COMPLIANT”
- The SEC once said that they do not review those standards or the digital assets that the platforms select. In short, they maybe use strict standards to pick only high-quality digital assets to trade, but still they are not regulated or meet the regulatory standards of a national securities exchange. Then, what is a SEC-COMPLIANT?
INVESTING WITH A CREDIT CARD
- If a project is said to be a SEC-COMPLIANT, then why would they allow investors to purchase by any major credit card? Isn't strange? SEC would not allow that. How ironic.
It is not so easy to inform all about being safe, especially in blockchain technology. So for SEC to at least spread awareness, they created that kind of bogus. For me, that's freakin' amazing. It takes me 30 minutes to realize that HoweyCoin was just an educational tool.

Yeah. To think that even some of Cryptocurrency Investors treat SEC as enemy, SEC still wants us to be safe about our investments.
