One of the major problem the world in general is facing when it comes to disease is the one that a person is born with due to is genetic makeup. For those who don’t know what I mean let me explain. The way we behave, why we look like our parents and why we are different from every other living creatures even if we all have characteristics of living thing is because of a unique micro molecule in our individual cells called nucleic acid located in the Nucleus of our cells. This molecules control the activity of the cell and is responsible for the type of protein each cell produces that is why a liver cell is different from a brain cell and many other cells in the body. That is why anytime there is defect in these nucleic acid the function of the cell changes and start misbehaving.
With this various changes in the cell nucleic acid causes the organs to behave in a different way signifying disease conditions which can be specific to a race or to a family lineage. Most of the time due to the fact that the defect is at the nucleic acid this defect can be transferable to daughter cells including cells sex cells which are the ova and the sperm. At most times this defects are noticeable in the host organisms may be due to suppression of the defective gene or due to environmental factors that impedes the exhibition of those defective traits. When this trait get transferred to their offspring this defective traits at most times become dominant and become expressed in the offspring in the form of either defective protein as in sickle cell anemia or as enzymes defects.
With the advancement in technology saw the birth of several means by which the human DNA can be sequenced to get the complete genome of a particular person. This initially cost millions of dollars to the done but as time passed by the project was getting cheaper but still most people don’t know their genetic makeup neither do they know if they have any genetic disease that can be carried or inherited by their offspring and this as lead to many inborn errors noticed all over the world nowadays.
