Spokkz: Empowering the TV industry

in #ico6 years ago

Introduction-

Coming back from school, I rush into the living room, without changing my uniform, to watch my favorite TV programme. It was about talking trains and the various adventures they had. When I was little, TV and radio were the primary source of entertainment. My day wouldn't begin without hearing the devotional songs that my family listened to, over the radio. Walkmans were also quite popular and people used to listen to cassettes through them as well. Now, the entertainment industry has expanded with the help of the Internet. Online video players house thousands of shows, and new content is made everyday, so much so that it is difficult to catch up and be aware of all the content that is being made.

Industry conditions-

One of my friends had a passion about script writing, and another was a great video editor. They together worked to find a team of amateurs to create a movie. The screenplay and story line was excellent. But the real problem came during the time of execution. No one was ready to spend money over a group of people who were far away from being professionals. Despite having a very good idea and unique storyline, they faced a lot of trouble for the production. After a lot of chasing, they finally crossed the hurdle. Then came the woes of commissions and fees required to be paid in order for a video streaming website to store their content.

Advertisements and promotions were also a difficult task as these things went way out of the budget. If content creators reach at a point where they are able to showcase their prowess, they barely get recognition due to centralized organizations which take over the hosting and streaming of videos. They get all the credits about the hard work done. The entertainment industry is growing bigger each passing day. But the quality of the content is getting compromised as the quality increases.

Earlier, there used to be a few good scripts and few good movies or shows. Now, people with a lot of resources can easily produce content and broadcast it, while quality content with low budget remains neglected. Another issue of this industry is that, it has become highly uninteractive. Viewers are the people who are responsible for the growth of the industry, yet they are the most neglected. Viewers opinions are not given the right platform to be projected. The content that they want to watch, remains unbroadcasted. Furthermore, their valuable feedback, reviews and ratings go unnoticed. Therefore, they tend to lose interest. Viewers are the ones that share, promote and spread the word about the growing content in the industry. But their shares are not adequately acknowledged.

About Spuul-

Spuul is a video on demand platform having a large user base and hosting a good number of shows and films. It decided to address the problems of a centralized entertainment industry with the help of Spokkz, a decentralized platform based on blockchain technology, smart contracts and cryptocurrencies. The platform empowers content creators by helping them raise the required funds for their projects, recognizes shows with good potential and uses a distributed ledger to break the monopolies of the industry. The viewers are also rewarded for their feedbacks, reviews, ratings and shares through various means. The Spokkz token is the internal cryptocurrency of the ecosystem and all transactions take place via those tokens. F

Conclusion-

Thus Spokkz tries to disrupt the movie industry to give the reins of power to the content creators, the underdogs, so that the bar of cinema could be raised up a notch. With an amazing idea and an equally able team, it will surely becoming successful.
