Content creators as a whole is not a new thing. We were called as artists, inventors, painters. What we did was to create something that the world required or give them something that they never knew they wanted. This was so special that only a few could even survive in this field. Many opt for the road most taken, with the world following the herd mentality. None try to be innovate, fearing the risk of failure. We as people are human's first, artists next and then only workers. We don't work the instant we come into this world, instead we are introduced to the greater and finer arts present in the world.
Even though we may think we can't paint or write a long essay, there will always be a time when you would've done it without you even noticing it. This industry has evolved over the years, changing to a digital one. We are all interconnected and the world has become a global village and gone are the times when we would hear something that happened in the nearby state or country after a few days. Instead we get to know of it as it happens or the instant it has happened.
The shift to the digital medium has made the lives of content creators easier and tougher at the same time. It has made it easier to share, collaborate, make, get resources, help, earn via the online medium. But it has brought about its share of disadvantages and curb the benefits that physical medium provided. It made it even easier to duplicate, copy, and distribute illegal copies around that much easier. It also made piracy a major concern that plagues the Internet.
Let's take an example of a Music Artist producing and releasing a song on the Internet using the services present at the moment such as a content sharing and streaming site. All it takes is one person with a bad intent to just be able to pay for the song once and then be able to record it to another device and be able to distribute it for free to others or even make money of the traffic generated by people attempting to download the copy. This is prevalent in all fields that you may think of, be it videos, photos, audio or even documents or intellectual properties.
Wemark has proposed to solve this problem that the content creators face by implementing Blockchain technology. They plan on creating a content sharing and streaming platform based on Blockchain and this solves most of the problems mentioned above while bringing about newer and better features. It makes the market more decentralized, allowing for the rights of way to fall back into the hands of creators, not in the hands of a few top companies in the sector. It also helps in making content sharing more secure for the fact that it is stored on the Blockchain and this makes the system more transparent, allowing for people to foster trust and relationship with the user base.
Wemark plans on focusing on the Photography market first and then move onto other contents. This focused approach is good as they could use it as a pilot to test out their platform. They sure have a lot of competition, but it brings the best out of all. This was a much needed change in the way content is made use of online.
