Twitter is barring cryptocurrency ads from today

On Tuesday, Twitter announced that it will ban the publication of ICO and some cryptocurrency related advertisements on this site.

The report states that all advertisements related to the initial token issuing (ICO), token sales, exchanges, and wallet services will be screened by the website except for the major stock market listed companies. According to a news report a spokesman said the move aims to "ensure the safety of the Twitter community".

The social media giant explained:

We have set a new policy on cryptocurrency advertising for Twitter, and will ban ICO and token sales advertisements worldwide.As previously reported, rumors about Twitter's ban on cryptocurrency advertising began circulating earlier this month. At that time, the British media’s Sky News news reported that the platform would join Facebook and Google in the next two weeks, prohibiting the appearance of such advertisements on the platform.In an interview, a Twitter spokesperson declined to comment on the issue.Jack Dorsey, Twitter’s chief executive, previously acknowledged the proliferation of cryptocurrency fraud accounts and promised to crack down on related users or robot accounts.After receiving numerous complaints about cryptocurrency junk and fraudulent advertising, Facebook decided in January this year to completely ban such advertising. In the middle of this month, Google also announced that it will start a similar ban in June 2018.
