Introduction-
I got my first cell phone when I was in 6th grade. I was thrilled that I could finally be a part of the Facebook squad in my school, the cool group that knew all the gossip, memes and trends over the internet. My first phone had half a gigabyte of RAM and one gigabyte of storage space. In today's standards it looks outrageous and impossible to live with. But I managed. All the things I would have liked, were available on the internet. Facebook, Google Apps, Salesforce, Dropbox and various services were not needed to be installed and were available readily.
Technology and Man-
Technology and the internet combined have given us so much. We have the world's knowledge at our feet. And resources. Life has become so much more comfortable. I remember the time when the first cell phones came into being. When one cell phone broke, or had to be replaced, we had to manually save all the new contacts, and set up the phone all over again. When memory cards and external storage devices became prevalent, they had the risk of getting corrupted. My father had some very important documents stored in the laptop and the hard disk crashed. It was an irreparable loss. Cloud computing took birth and solved backup issues. When I change to a new cell phone today, I just need to log in to my account and all my data gets transferred easily and effortlessly. There is no fear of data getting corrupted and they could be readily made available in multiple devices with just a steady Internet connection.
About SaaS-
Software as a service, better known as SaaS is the provision of software to an end user via the Internet. This is a boon to mankind as it removes the woes of software installation and the hassles that come along with it. SaaS applications are used like any other internet website. It is convenient because it can be used in multiple devices with no loss of data. It saves storage space and is quite scalable and easily upgradable. However SaaS products are prone to security breaches, and data theft concerns. And various underlying problems.
