Buglab: cybersecurity penetration testing using the blockchain

in #ico6 years ago

The chants for imposing tighter security on various digital assets like users data are growing rapidly. Thanks to the recent attacks like data breach on a Facebook platform which has forced the common users to realize the importance of internet security. Now, people think twice before allowing access to any private information on the internet. This has forced the companies to invest heavily to ensure that their services remain tamper-proof. But, you should know one thing that it's nearly impossible to test a particular software for all kind of threats (unless you can hire highly skilled ethical hackers).

So, what will happen to the small business who can not hire those highly skilled hackers to test their website and resolve any vulnerabilities (if there)? Well, thanks to Buglab, those organizations need not worry about that anymore. Buglab will allow the small organization to connect with various white hat hackers who are willing to test any software for vulnerabilities. Also, these independent white hat hackers undergo tough vetting and validation process to ensure that the organizations can trust them.

In the era of the digital world, it important that all the services which we use can store all our information safely. Any leak or unauthorized access to private information can lead to catastrophic consequences as all the services are linked to each other. This is why I decided to dig deeper into Buglab platform to find out more about the company.

Buglab platform

Buglab aims to provide a complete solution which can identify and eliminate those vulnerabilities in various systems like web application, websites, mobile applications, smart contracts, IoT devices and many more. Buglab has also come up with a unique way to solve these issues. They will turn the penetration testing into various challenges (or contests) which will attract independent security organizations to compete with each other in order to solve the issue. But, the competing organizations have to be certified by the Buglab.

Buglab has imposed a lengthy validation and vetting process to ensure that only white hat attackers are allowed for penetration testings. Buglab will reward each tester (in form of GLB tokens) upon successful completion of penetration testing (upon uncovering system vulnerabilities). You can assume it like a race between various independent security providers.

Organisations and also organize private contests on Buglab platform to ensure that only a small group of the tester can participate in the process. They can also filter all the testers based on their location, age, skills and various other parameters. The independent hackers can also notify other organization who are not using Buglab platform about their vulnerabilities.

ICO and Team

Buglab uses ERC20 token which is created on Ethereum blockchain. The company has released 170 million BGL tokens for sale. Buglab will organize a pre-sale from 30th June 2018- 5 August 2018 which will be followed by the main sale. The tokens will be sold at a rate of 1 BGL= $0.15 USD (pre-Sale) and 1 BGL=$0.15 USD (main sale). Buglab will only accept ethereum as the mode of payment for the purchase of GLB token. However, you need to invest a minimum of 6.67 Ether (in pre-Sale).

Conclusion

Buglab will start blockchain migration in Q3 2018 which will be followed by the release of a beta version of the platform. Buglab also plans to launch the content and vigilante protocol by the end of this year. Vigilante protocol will provide an avenue for white hats to share their discoveries. Buglab will then work with CERTs from all parts of the world to verify those discoveries and if found correct then notifying the affecting companies.

But, the big question is whether you should invest in this company or not. Well, the idea-wise company is way better than most of the companies out there (based on blockchain). Also, considering the sudden increase in popularity of information security, people have started to realize the value of keeping their data secure. This has forced the companies to put more focus on securing their servers and data, which might work in the favor of Buglab. So, I think that Buglab will grow with time and it can be the perfect opportunity for you to be a part of such a community that focuses on ensuring the safety and security in this digital era.
