Hmm if Steem also becomes an exchange, won't the witnesses hold to much power? I'm not talking about the current witnesses who I'm sure are trusted members of the community who have done a lot for the platform. But if you get to control as much money as an exchange, won't this give a strong motive for ill-intentionned people to become witnesses? As we all know, elections aren't the most secure system, it's not impossible to rig/destabilize them. It would still be very hard to do, but not impossible.
I love the idea of a fast and stable exchange, I'm just pointing out it would increase the risks of an attack on steem.
